Yet another door/headlight buzzer thread.

I've searched pretty rigorously for a decent explanation on how to disconnect/disable the damn thing (on yotatech, t4r, ih8mud, pirate 4x4, etc.) and can't seem to find anything that applies to the '95 I just bought. Everything out there seems to be for 1st/3rd/4th gens. There are some posts about 90-92 but I'm not sure if they work for mine.

So if someone could explain and/or post a link to embarrass me and my pitiful search techniques, that would be great.

In my opinion it should work whatever that is. I do agree with you that the buzzer is super annoying. I thought is was a fuse. Or find the noise emitter and just snip the wires. Redneck but if all else fails...:smash:

I looked around for the "black box" or the specific wire but didn't find anything, so I'm hoping someone on here can point me in the right direction.

just run a screw into the hole the sound comes out of......
easy as pie. no need to take it out, tare it apart & bend the tab.

Or just put tape over the buttons located in door wells to hold the button down and its easy to remove later.

Tape is a last resort I suppose. I'd still like to keep my door light available.

Airdreams, do you know what gen 4runner MudHippy has? I'm looking in that area and I see relay boxes, but none labeled "buzzer." That or it's hidden among the bird nest of wires that previous owner left when he installed an alarm...

The buzz comes from:

1. Tail light or headlights left on when door is opened,
2. Reminder to put on seat belt as soon as you put IGN in on position, AND
3. Key is left in ignition and door is opened.

You sure you really want to disable all those alarms, including lights left on?
If you find only the "Seatbelt reminder" buzzer annoying because it comes when you started before buckling seatbelt, tried disconnecting the seat belt buckle switch under the seat?

That would leave you:

1. Tail light or headlights left on when door is opened (good reminder, correct?), AND
2. Key is left in ignition and door is opened (Also a good reminder, I think)

For some, those features are definitely helpful, but I've driven enough older vehicles without a buzzer/dinger to remember those things on my own. I wouldn't feel so inclined to get rid of if it wasn't one of the worst sounds they possibly could come up with.

Does this require removing the seat completely?

You cut cut out pull out the door sensor. It will disable the door light, but then you wouldnt have the door buzzer anymore.

I cut mine for when runing doorless. Headlight buzzer still works, but no door alarm or door light.

Nope, just look under the seat. There's a connector with 2 wires. Switch closes when seat belt is UN-buckled, opens when buckled. Disconnecting connector keeps UN-buckled signal from reaching the electronic circuitry so it things seatbelt is always buckled. That's for the simple 22R-Eliable. On more complex, newer models, it may be different.

Mines a first gen, but i finally found it when i pulled my dash off for other reasons. Before that it was tough to find out where the buzz was really coming from. Ended up being on top of the steering column behind the first few sets of plastic. Theres a ton of wires going into the harness on it, but I pulled it off and every else still works just no buzzer.
