UPDATE 2/19/19: I installed a new cabin temperature sensor and there was no change. My next option is to take it to the stealership and ask them to take a look at it. My gut is telling me it's in the controller but I'm holding out for a loose wire somewhere. Fortunately, it hasn't been that cold around here since my initial post and it continues to look like nice weather for the time being so there's no need for an in between setting of Lo or blazing hot.
My 2004 4R is an SR5 V6 with a single zone climate control. I recently swapped out all three air servo motors (blend door, air-mix, and air recirc). They failed one at a time over the course of about 6 months. It was frustrating, but I digress.
The last one to be replaced was the air mix servo. I have full heat now but the air temperature "jumps" from Lo to hot when adjusting the temperature just a few degrees. Watching the servo, the air-mix door travels a short distance each degree from Lo until it gets to 70 or 71 and then it seems to travel all the way as if I had put the temperature on HI. And the temperature is blazing hot, too. Running the temperature all the way to Hi, the door does not move any further and the temperature remains blazing hot. On the way back down, the door doesn't travel until I reach 70 or 71. At that point, it behaves the same way as it did when increasing the temperature, traveling a short distance with each decrease of 1 degree.
I don't see anything obvious I could repair to correct this issue. Could this be something with the computer since I had to disconnect several connections, like maybe it "forgot" how to respond? Anybody else experience this before?
