.....but it looks super easy to make a homemade diff-drop for a 3rd Gen 4Runner.

Spacers + Longer bolts = Diff-Drop

Am I missing something here.....Any of you done it?

Yeah it's definitely not complicated. Sonoransteel makes a diff drop which the cuts are angled so the spacers sit straighter. If you're gonna make one check theirs out first.

Cool, thanks Brian. I was on Ih8mud and rad a bunch of posts from folks that think a diff drop is nonsense. So, it made think.....if I can just make it for around $10 what's the big deal...no loss. But I'll check out SS.

Well, Ive heard that too but my own experiences confirm that they help. My CVs leaked and tore within weeks w/o the diff drop. Installed one and I've had no problems for over a year. It definitely can't hurt, especially if you're making it yourself.

I agree with Brian, I would get a diff drop, and if you can make it for less even better!

And again I agree with Brian, I would try and copy the SS diff drop though, I like the angle cut they have, it seems to fit better. I didn't really think about it before I bought mine, which I got from Toytec, which is a straight cut.

But after I installed it I realized why the angle cut makes more sense. (one of those slap your forehead moments)

haha I did the same thing. It matters so little though, I'm not jumping out of my seat to change mine.

the diff drop from toytec is just a piece of round aluminum bar stock with a hole drilled through the center...pretty simple

I checked the sonoran steel spacers out...that looks a little more difficult to do. If I can't find anything that resembles the aluminum/steel 1" spacer....I may just stack several steel spacers on top of on another to achieve the desired amount of drop (1"). I don't see the harm in that....do you?

yeah i say do it, again a diff drop isn't a nuspeed sticker or a tornado, it does help even if it's only an inch lol

Does anyone know the length of the bolts on the diff drop....I measured the current bolt and it looks like 7". But, from what I've found the length increments aren't the expected 1".
