Maybe moving to Atlanta for work............

I maybe transferring to Atlanta for work. I wanted to hear from some of you guys that are from Atlanta where are some nice areas to live or buy a house? Also what is there to do in Atlanta or even Georgia as a whole? Whats the weather like year round?

I've only been to Atlanta once for business and I stayed the in the Buckhead area. Buckhead is a very nice area and I'd compare it to the Beverly Hills of Cali...

It all depends on what kind of area you want to live in. I live about 20 miles north of downtown atlanta and really like this particular area (Kennesaw in Cobb County) because I'm far enough away from the city that I don't have to deal with all the trash and crime, but close enough to be convenient.

I live Northeast of Atlanta, in Sugar Hill. We are close to the Mall of GA. 30 min from Downtown ATL. There is lots to do around north GA. Everything from Hiking the Appalachee trail to Shooting the rapids in Hiawasee. Lots of history to see and experience. come on down and sip some sweet tea and go fishing. I went to Fort Benning, Ga.,

for jump school back in the summer of 1981.......I still get horrible flashbacks...the heat, the humidity, the gig pit, the body twisters, the blackcaps, the heat, the humidity, the toothless rednecks in Columbus, the mosqitoes the size of Kiowa helos that can pierce kevlar to suck your blood, the endless double time with a chute on your back and spare in front....the heat, the humidity....

I lived in Atlanta for about 13 years. 1985 thru 1998. Lived in Cobb county off the 120 loop just before you get to Kennesaw. Atlanta is beautiful but crowded. I also lived in Buckhead and then moved out to Gwinett County by the Falcons training camp. If you are moving from California and owned a house in California then you can afford a Mansion in Atlanta. If you have a family you will want to live in north Atlanta, Cobb, North Fulton, or Gwinett. The further out you go the cheaper the housing. If you are single you will want to live in Buckhead. They have condo's that will fit your lifestyle. When you get there check-out the Gold Club. Atlanta has the most beautiful totally nude dancers in the country and the clubs are all over Atlanta. If you like to workout join Golds gym and go to workout around noon, that's when a the dancers train (I guess that's when the finally get up after a long night of dancing). Good luck and enjoy

I lived here 30 years, married a Georiga girl. I see everyone is recommending north Atlanta. That is the best area for housing and schools, BUT North I-75, North I-285 between I-75 and I-85, North I-85 and State 400 are a BEAR to drive in the morning and afternoon. Keep this in mind if you actually work in Atlanta.

Henry County which is south of Atlanta is one of the 10 fasest growing counties in the US. Simple reason is there is more land.

I live in the Kennesaw / Acworth area and most everthing is near by, stores, housing, rests, schools, etc.

It is mostly hot and humid in the summer which lasts about 8 months. We get about a 1" of snow about once every two years or so and the whole town shuts down. I have a sailboat at Lake Lanier, which is one of the nicest lakes around. It is a great place to live.

One thing about schools we have been 50th in SAT scores for years. The last 2 Govereners said education is the most important thing. Last year we went up to 49th. BUT the schools in North Atlanta are on average much better and schools in mid-Georiga being a bit behind.

Been in North Atlanta for 3 years (Cumming/Alpharetta), cannot wait to get out!! The good is housing is cheap, the bad is the ridiculous traffic, terrible roads, weather sucks (either to hot or to cold), very bad air pollution, not much to do and if you do it you will be stuck in traffic, and the schools are a joke

Been down there to UGA, and around there, the Bars are the happen place. But I loved it down there, just school spirit in that area is crazy. Ill probably move that direction at some point in my life.
