I did do a lot of research on them and so far everything I was finding problem wise was with the 04's. A guy I work with has an 05 that he's had about a year and he hasn't had any trouble with it so far. Since he's had it he's put about 25k on it and tow's a 14' enclosed trailer loaded almost everyday for work. They definately had some ugly issues in 2004 but it seems they've cleaned them up a lot.
As far as the Tundra's go, they're great and I wouldn't mind having one of those either but like I said, I'm more interested in the Titan
:. The Tacoma is a good truck too but that would be like having a 2nd 4Runner, except with a bed. I need a full size. Thanks for the replies!

1.) Not such a great truck, stay away from it.
2.) A good time to buy, if you can get a really good deal. To me Nissan makes good engines and sometimes missses the small stuff. It sure looks like the Titan is getting slammed, but to me, I would rather have a Nissan for the next 6 or 8 years instead of a Ford or GM.
You say you ran into a "really good deal" and it seems you understand the concerns. I would say "go for it".

All that say is that sales are down. Nothing to do with it having problems. Sales are down with everyone but Toy.

I grew up on a farm in Nebraska and we have had about 20 trucks that I can remember. My brothers all got sold on the new Titans and each got one except me, I just couldnt bring myself to buying a Nissan. I have had a Tundra the last 4 years and LOVE IT! All 3 of them have had nothing but problems with the Titans and do not like them at all. They are all in the process of getting new trucks as we speak. The 07 Tundra is going to be awesome, but if you cant wait I would get an 06 Tundra. There will be alot of good deals later this year on them.
Out of all of our trucks and all of my buddies trucks the best all around trucks are Fords and Toyotas no question!

Thanks for all the input guys! I did decide on getting the Titan though, and I think I made the right decision. I didn't have the option of waiting for the 07 Tundra because I needed something within the next week although I know they're going to be nice. Like I said, I got an awesome deal on the Titan. It's a 2005 red Titan SE Crew cab with a TON of options. It only has 5600 mi's on the odo so it's a brand new truck that someone else took the depreciation hit on. They traded it in for an LE Titan with leather and all that other stuff I don't want.
It has the upgraded tow package (9,400 lb rating), bed utilitrac system w/ bed devider, rhino lined bed, premium sound, 265/70x18's, liftgate light's, PIAA foglights, and a ton more!
I think the red compliments my black 4Runner quite well

I've had 2 Tundras and IMO they are the best truck on the road unless you need to tow an 10,000 lb. trailer. A friend of mine who needed something to pull his camper (had never owned any foriegn make before) bought a Titan last year and loves the engine but has had numerous problems, the biggest being he needs a set of tires after 12,000 miles. This is a major complaint with alot of Titan owners. Also he has not gotten above 13-14 mpg. My Tundra Dbl. Cab 4X4 averaged 15-17 mpg and my tires would have gone 35,000 miles.Solice said:...my Altima in for a Titan

I still own my Runner and am still loyal to Toyota but the Titan just fit everything I needed better (Tundra vs Titan wise). My uncle has a 2005 Tundra Double Cab (4 door) and had a 2003 Tundra before that. I drive his 05 all the time and honestly it feels about identicle to the Titan other then not being quite as peppy(?). He travels a lot like me and he said he averages 15mpg w/out his trailer and about 9-10 w/ his trailer, so the gas mileage is about identicle. The Titan's just new, and people tend to be afraid of change. I love the Tundra, I just like the Titan a little more.
I'll snap some pics tomorrow and throw them up here.
I have heard about the tires wearing out, but I haven't heard that quick. Titan's weigh over 5,000 (depending on the packages almost 5,500 ) lbs and definately are hard on tires but it has a lot to do with the driving style as well. The guy I mentioned previously got the Revos put on his right after he bought it and after 30k they're still going strong. I figured everyone on here would be biased against the nissan because the Tundra is a great truck, and I'm not knocking it at all but at the same time I don't think everyone gives the Titans the respect that they should.dano said:
