maybe weak springs?

So I recently bought a 2005 4Runner sr5 v6 2wd. It has almost 120,000 miles on it. I replaced all the shocks with KYB's. Front end still seems to bottom out on speed bumps, or some dips in the road, construction sites, etc. Do I just need to replace the springs next?

I think you're on the right track. Shocks can't do their job if the weight of the vehicle isn't supported. I would highly recommend finding a set of OEM springs from a FJ Cruiser, they would most likely provide the results you're looking for. A search here will yield a ton of info. Most get them used off of Toyota FJ Cruiser Community, craigslist, or ebay.

I had the same problem with my 4runner. FJ cruiser springs and good shocks and struts solved it. Just make sure you get springs from a 4x4 fj.

Correct. I'm not sure that the 2wd springs would offer the same benefit as the 4wd ones. However, I will say expect a little over 1" lift in the front and .25"-.5" lift in the rear with the 4x4 FJ springs on your 4runner. Most go this route for the lift, and the improved ride is just a bonus. I'm not sure how you feel about lifting your 4runner, but I think this would be your best shot at getting the ride you want. I know with 130k on mine it made a world of difference.

Thanks for all the good info! Will start looking for some springs! I just put on all new KYB shocks. Do you think they will work correctly lengthwise with the fj springs?

Yes. The OEM 4x4 FJ springs are very similar in length to the 4runner springs (within 1"). The FJ springs are slightly more stiff which gives the improved ride.
