memory seat option

Does anybody know when during the life cycle did Toyota add the memory seat function to the 4gen 4runner as I can't seem to find this information anywhere?

I'm curious to now because this might provide some insight as to when they might add it to the 5gen 4runner.

Yep, the one thing that drives me nuts about my Limited. At least Toyota could have made it an option, I would have gladly paid for it :violin:

it may be very possible, but costly, for a swap

I know there is a seat position ecu (also acts as the switch) in the seat itself on the 4th gens, and the accompanying buttons located on the dash. The memory buttons themselves transmit infrared signal to the ecu in the seat, and it does its magic. I've studied the 4th gen wiring, and i assume the 5th gens seat wiring is very similar.

In a cost saving strategy, toyota likes to reuse/standardize things across many models. It may actually fit the internals of the seat with a little mod, however, it is costly to you! The seat position ecu/switch costs around $400 and the buttons $65.

Maybe in 2013 for the mid-gen refresh, if the 5th follows the traditional 7 year lifecycle of other Toyota models. Typically the 3rd year is powertrain upgrades, the 4th is cosmetic.

I'm still thinking about this and do still plan to work on this...I'm just not ready to buy the switch for $400ish...and have been busy around the house...finding this switch for cheap is not easy...oh and the 4th gen switch will not fit in the 5th gen slot...the switch is to big...I need to find one that will fit in the 5th gens smaller slot...

Anybody smarter than me ever figure this out? This is about the only Limited feature I wish my truck had!

It's just one of those nagging issues with the TE build. I suppose one could order all the parts from a Limited, but it's likely a programming nightmare, plus EXPENSIVE. I'd still do it, if I didn't have to dig into the wiring to deep.

Where's ANTMAN when we need him?

I am interested in this as well. I've looked on parts websites and see a wiring harness for the door labeled (#16) w/memory and w/o memory. However, I can't seem to find the individual components such as the switch, buttons, etc. I'm curious what it would cost from a parts perspective using '14 and newer parts.
