Merry christmas to me....rock sliders edition

My wife wants me to pick out something to put on the 98 4Runner and I've pretty much decided on rock sliders as I had a close encounter with a stump last weekend. I want a slider with a kick out and I'd like to have the option of having them attach (or provide) diamond plate or some other solid surface on top so that the kiddos can get in and out a little easier.

I've heard good things about Stubbs and have sent him an email. I like the look of Toyota 4Runner 3rd Generation but I can't tell how functional they actually are / they bolt on instead of being welded on, which I'm not a huge fan of. Is there anyone else I should seriously consider? I've done searching, but I've found a lot of conflicting information / outdated company recommendations, so I'm hoping I can get some fresh info here.

There are a lot of good sliders out there. I'm partial to Stubbs and would highly recommend them. I'm sure he will be able to add a top plate for you. Talk to him and tell him what you want. Depending on shipping, around $300 to your door. When I ordered mine earlier this year they were in stock shipped same day.

You could call and ask about a top piece. Otherwise, absolutely killer. Material and build is perfect. Shipped as a kit, it allows you to angle them if you'd like or leave them level. I coated mine with Rustoleum Bedliner spray for a decent grip. (Worked great but the stuff is messy as hell when spraying.)

Highly recommended product from my one time experience.

Damn those look good. What are you going to do to prevent rust under the top plate around the pipe and welds?

I haven't painted them yet, they're in my basement. The plan is self etching primer, primer & VHT roll bar & chassis paint satin black. I need to rust proof my frame & rocker panels first before I weld these on.
Who knows maybe by next spring I'll decide to powder coat.
