Messed Up My Wind Deflector/Spoiler Mount...Help!

Today I went to remove my deflector in order to change my high brake light. Well for some reason I decided to try and detach it from the mount instead of just removing the blade. After trying to remove the first screw, well I got screwed I guess. The receiver on the other end of screw became detached from the inside of the hatch door, so now the screw can't be tightened or removed and just wiggles around. Since I live in Oregon I need to find a fix fast so that rain doesn't leak in my door. Anyone experienced this before and have a fix for it besides purchasing a new hatch and having a new spoiler installed? The only other thing I can think of is sealing it with silicone and superglueing it down.

not saying this will work, but I am having to drill holes in my roof to add some tracks for a rack.

I decided the sheet metal screws they came with were ok.
so I looked in to RIVNUT's. the will permantly add a threaded sleep on your door. this will also let you take it on and off with ease.

my only concern is leaking. so I will goop the the hole pretty good when I finally get to installing them.

just a thought.

did they really engineer that to have a nut and bolt inside?

Not sure about your problem but going fwd, you dont need to remove the deflector to get the 3rd light out. If you want i can show you next month at our browns meetup but its not hard, just have to get the right angle and it slides thru the hole in the deflector.

Hmm ok....good thoughts everyone. Thanks much. I'll have to fiddle with it some more tomorrow. Turns out after getting the new bulb in the high lamp one touch of the brake pedal burnt the bulb out so I have some other reconnoissance I will have to do on the wiring...

Wow Bootown that is a great solution. If I have time after my college work today Ill head to home depot and pick up the stuff to try that and take some pics along the way.

Well... made a trip to Home Depot to pick up one of those RivNuts and they didn't carry anything similar to it so I am going to try a automotive shop next free chance I get.
