Messing with 4x4 System - Questions

So yesterday I did a little more than my usual 3min ride in 4lo on a monthly basis. I do this because I already had to have the actuator replaced under warranty because I assume it was never used while sitting at the stealer.

Anyways, I tried the CDL and it worked while rolling at around 20mph. No I didnt attempt to turn with this, especially since I was doing it on the street. It successfully engaged and disengaged almost instantly after I hit the button. So I remained in 4lo and drove to street with a hill. Its hardly anything but if you let go of the gas you roll. Anyways I decided to try out Downhill Assist Control. Stopped while in 4lo, still in D, hit the button, took my foot off of the break and I assume it began to work because ABS was going off like crazy. Keep in mind I was only going like 2mph.

Does DAC always use ABS regardless of traction or not? Just wondering because I thought that DAC assisted in breaking - not solely relying on ABS. Anyway everything worked as planned just a couple of questions:

Upshifts in 4lo are abrupt especially 1 to 2, downshift from 4 or 5(im not sure what gear im in at about 15mph) seem to happen in rapid succession when coming to a slow stop...is this normal? I dont go over 15mph in 4lo and stopping all the gears seem to down shift one by one 5-4-3-2-1 at a certain speed.

When in 4lo, there is a whine coming from the T-Case, not like a scream or grinding but you can "hear" it if you know what I mean..is that normal?

Lastly, does DAC solely use ABS to slow your movement down a hilll?

It sounds like you're treating the lock function with the proper respect:DSo I remained in 4lo and drove to street with a hill. Its hardly anything but if you let go of the gas you roll. The computer limits it to 4th gear. The manual allows for a much higher low-range top speed than 15mph. I think it's mid-high 30's.

Lastly, does DAC solely use ABS to slow your movement down a hilll? Yes. In fact if you go down a steep hill in 1st gear the engine braking is so powerful you may not even notice DAC because it won't activate.

Thank you sir. My sole purpose in testing this is to ensure getting up the mountain that my school is on in the snow will not be a problem due to "sticky" 4wd components that are never used.
