Metal knocking sound in front

When I go over a divet/bump, low spot in a sidewalk (like my driveway) or speed bump slowly, I get a metal knocking sound in the front end, usually when I go over on an angle so the truck is also rocking side to side slightly

What would be the first areas to check, aside from checking every nut, bolt and stud?

I have replaced:
lower ball joints
lower control arm bushings
inner/outer tie rod ends
steering rack guide and bushings
shocks and coils
sway bar bushings and links

I don't hear it when I go over 10mph (or maybe its muffled by the engine)

That's what I was thinking too. Are the sway bar links twisted/not centered? Coil spring isolator/cushion in place, coil touching other suspension parts when compressed, bumpstops?

Had that on my Limited & couldnt find the rattle until I changed the wheels.

More of a jingle not a metal clunk like the OP has.

I'd say check the sway bar endlinks. I had one of my new ones lower nut come loose and the endlink was knocking over bumps

Currently dealing with the same issue. More of a hard clunk than a rattle when I turn right into driveway. Passenger cv boot tore a few weeks ago and haven’t installed diff drop yet. I’ll start there and let you k ow what I find.

Lay underneath it and push up and down on the frame as hard as you can while you listen for the noise.

My noise was no bushing in the passenger side sway bar mount. The end links were not in the greatest shape either.

I'd say check the sway bar endlinks. I had one of my new ones lower nut come loose and the endlink was knocking over bumps

^^This is what I had. On the end that bolt to the LCA. It looked tight but it wasn't

^^ This is what I did. Got underneath and bench pressed the front end and got it jouncing. Watch those endlinks and listen too.


Of course, if it was making the noise before you replaced all those parts - were the parts replaced to fix the noise? - then it's probably something else.

Lots of votes for the swaybar links...I ordered new ones (extended length for the new coils) so I will see if that fixes it
strut/coil bolts are nice and tight

Sway bar links...I replaced mine not too many miles ago, wanna say 20-25k 'ish and obviously should've bought better ones then because they were way too loose and the noise was one of them clunking back and forth.

Check the axle nut retainers, they can get loose and rattle around.

Did you ever find the issue behind the metal clunking? I’m in the same exact situation and replaced ALL the same parts as OP.

My thought would be possibly UCA/balljoint, axle bushing/nut, or even engine mounts. Sway bar bushings and end link bushings replaced. It was hard to tell if the noise was there before as everything was completely worn out. I’m going to dbl check the coil is properly seated and top bolts are tight. Any other suggestions?

I just found my rattle. hood hinge. my hood would bounce near the wipers +/- 1/2" when driving under 10mph. I put 2 rubber pieces, like a hose, that are about 1/2" thick under the holes in the hood where the wiper sprayers are. after this test I decreased the thickness and only the right hinge clunked. to be cheap, I plan on putting old bushings on top of hinge bolt. (or buy hinge)
