metalic noise

I have an 89 v6 4Runner with a 2.5" lift. Recently I have been noticing a grinding noise coming from the front passenger side, sounds as though its near the wheel. It only happens when the truck is moving, sounds like something is rubbing as it rotates, creaking occasionally. All together somewhat unnerving noise to hear while driving on the freeway!

There is no outward physical signs of wear on the tire, CV joint, brakes...

Any ideas?

One thing that seemed to have triggered this, I had that wheel removed to patch the tire.

Allignment..?

Please help!

Someone correct me if the '89s have the other type of 4WD...

In theory, if you have manual locking hubs or properly working auto hubs, and your 4WD is not engaged, they CV joints should not be turning.

If they are spinning, and they're bad, you would risk the bad one seizing and locking up that wheel, causing all sorts of bad.
