Gang,
It's always to good to post up issues with out trucks. I can almost always count on someone saying" yeah i have to go through this too" or "I will be going through that shortly" Makes me feel like I'm not alone in this.
"This 4Runner has a smiles per mile factor as I go bombing though the desert like nothing else has ever given me"
Mind if i borrow this..? Just reinforces the point on why i love this dusty ass Money pit.
Borrow away. I might have to borrow your avatar through…….
Seems like a money put but it ain’t. Go price any newer iron lately?????? There’s a $75k used dually down the street from me….. makes these rigs seem like an absolute steal.
Go price a new jeep or a new 4Runner….yeah… we’re talking only a hand full of payments to equal a fully done up 3rd gen here. Yeah, an $800 Catalytic converter is a bit steep. So is all the other parts I put into this thing. All in though, still way way way under the 10 K Mark. That’s not even four wheeler money. Much less side-by-side money. And definitely not $30-$50,000 new Toyota money. I can absolutely go afford to buy a new one, but I refuse to. It’s gotten absolutely ludicrous what everything costs now. Everyone else can play but I won’t. The only way for me to win is to not play.
Besides, it’s absolutely priceless after I do a 50-60 mile an hour burn across some forest service road on a the ridge somewhere (probably with at least one e-brake turn) and everybody else in quads and side-by-side‘s is eating dirt and wiping their eyes as I’m sitting there drinking a beer at the next stop all clean and refreshed
Until one of the manufacturers builds a skinny 4 corner coil over bomber rig of similar dimensions like a third GEN 4runner that I can strap some fatty bilsteins to and some kind of jounce control, I just don’t know that I’ll ever be interested. #3rdgen4life
My thinking is use your money for fun, go fast parts, and experiences. Let the banks keep their payments.
