Michelin/Fortera/Revo

I have read most if not all of the posts in the last 3-6 months on tires, etc, and wanted to get one last opinion, as well as a question about something I read on this forum.

The tires are for an 06 Sport V-8, mostly on road/highway driving, mild off road use (Colorado forest roads, camping, etc.), but this is maybe six times per year. I want a good tire with good snow/rain traction.

I am looking at the Michelin LTX m/s, Forteras, and Revos. Michelins are a little cheper than the Revos, and the Forteras are $150 or so cheaper for the set. I am staying with the stock size of 265/65/17.

I also read in one of the posts that the hard tire (Michelin) may cause some issues with the VSC? I only saw it once, but was not sure if it was something I needed to be concerned with.

Any opinion or suggestions on which tire anyone would recommend of those three?

I can't speak from personal experience on the Revo2 or the LTX M/S2 but based on what I've read and your stated goals any of the 3 would work well. Given your mild off-roading any of the 3 would work well.

Based on your desire for decent snow performance I'd say the Triple-tread Fortera or the Revo2. The TT has the advantage of the snowflake embossed on it meaning, legally, you wouldn't need to chain up. I suspect the Revo2 is equally adept at snow driving and better off-road. They look cooler too. The TT's might last a few more miles. I don't think there's enough data to confirm that yet.

Based on my own experience, a couple of reviews here, reviews at Tirerack and your stated goal my brain would say TT's my heart would want Revo2's. (I had Revo 1's and loved those tires. I now have GY with similar construction technology as the TT and I like them a lot.) I say go for the TT's.

I have no real love for the Michelins. I respect them but it seems I can never get a good balance that lasts. They ride good and last a long time, generally have ok traction but they just don't excite me. Maybe a set of AT2's would change my mind. I think they are too proud of them for the $$$. That's just my 2cents.
