Michelin LTX A/T2 vs LTX A/T2

I'm trying to decide whether to get the LTX A/T2 or the LTX M/S2. I have the cross-terrains on my runner now. I wanted something better for the snow, but still good for dry weather. I've got stock 265/60/18. I will only buy Michelins tires. Thanks for the input.

I have absolutely no experience with either, but after reviewing i have decided my next shoes will be the M/S2. You won't be going wrong with either, but for me, the M/S2 looks to have a more highway tread and quieter looking tread which is what i am looking for.

i LOVED my A/T2's. haven't had experiences with the M/S2 but I liked how the A/Ts were a little bit more aggressive tread

go on the tire rack for reviews. i was in the same boat last week. the ms2 is a better tire in all aspects vs the at2. i went with neither in the end.

I have the LTX A/T2's and absolutly love them. Quiet on the highway, long lasting, and awesome off road. They climb loose, wet rocky trails like a monkey on crack. Handled snow very well. No complaints whatsoever.

I'm also a Mich fan.

I'll be in almost the same situation when the CT's eventually wear out with the difference being I have a set of BFG's for winter. I'm planning to get the Latitude as my summer road tire with no winter or offroad.

I see your deciding factor for onroad being the snow. If you were happy with the CT then I would go M/S^2 if you do alot of highway. They will do as well or better in all conditions as the CT did. I would get the A/T^2 if you do city driving (or city/hwy split) because of poor (or lack of) snow removal. They will still ride nice and quiet and have long life (especially for an A/T tire.) I would get them if I didn't have the 2 sets. I had the original LTX A/T as one set (no snow tires) on a previous ride with 50/50 city/hwy so I wouldn't hesitate on the A/T^2.

Does anyone have experience with the M/S2 in snow? I don't always trust tirerack reviews.

I have the LTX A/T 2 and run them from April to November each year. Mid November I switch them off for Michelin Latitude X-Ice through to end of March. The MS 2 looks like it would be a better snow and ice tire than the A/T 2 given the increased amount of sipes it has over the A/T 2. But for my money there's no replacement for a dedicated snow tire.

I used to work at the plant where we made both the M/S2 and A/T2. Both are awesome tires but they definitely have their differences. The A/T2 is a softer rubber compound and more aggressive design, which means more traction but also more wear. The M/S2 was our only real "all terrain" tire until the A/T2. The M/S2 still gets great traction and has ben known to last over 100,000mi! I run the M/S2 on my 4Runner...

Good luck finding A/T 2s. Checked Tire Rack and a bunch of local dealers and Michi says they won't be available again until late Jan -mid Feb. Loved my current A/T's but after 60+k I've got no traction in the snow.
