Michelin LTX M/S vs. A/T2

So I will soon be in the market for some new tires, and will stick with Costco since all the extras they throw in (lifetime balance/rotation/road hazard) more than makes up for the fact they wont special order Revos anymore. The quesion posed to all of you is: Which tire do you think is my best bet to get? I want something that gets great mileage, and lasts a while. i really only use my truck on the highways since I haev no time to offroad anymore. I have heard good things about both of these, and there is only a $5 difference between them (about $200 a piece installed without counting any coupons that Costco puts out on them).

Who has them, how many miles do you have on them, how is your gas mileage (up or down from stock or other tires), how do they perform? I do realize that one is a "Highway all season" and the other is "on/off road", but they both look similar. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as the A/T2 doesnt have too much in the way of reviews.

I had a 97 with the M/S LTX. I bought them in Flagstaff and put 50,000 miles on them mostly Arizona weather. they handled well with superior highway manners. when the car was sold they easily could have gone another 20K with good tread. They handled well with excellent bite. they slipped a little in snow (the 97 was 2WD) but quickly regained their composure. I liked them quite a bit. It you are going to be in snow I would follow the boys and girls advice here. Currently I run Pirelli Scorpions on my 07 Sport. I have never seen such a competent tire on dry wet and snow. good luck. enjoy.

I've never run either tire, but FWIW the A/T2 looks more off-road oriented than the LTX. I run CrossTerrains on my MDX and Michelin makes a great product. I'd vote for the A/T2.

Either way you won't be disappointed.

I would love to go with the Perilli's, but unfortunatly Costco stopped special ordering other brands of tires. So Michelin is what it has to be. And other than the T/A KO's, I dont really care for BFG's. Of course, that tire is WAY too aggressive for my on-road driving.

I think that you would be happy with the LTX or AT ...The only way I afforded the Pirellis was with the $100. discount America's Tire offered and $100 for the dunlops. out the door around $681.00

I've been a longtime Mich fan. They're all long wear and quiet.
The LTX M/S is an excellent highway tire made more for pickups & vans with loads. Many fleets run them.
The Cross Terrain is for the sport utility quieter ride. I got these before the A/T2 came out.
The A/T2 would be my choice because it's also quiet and gives you that extra edge. I ran the original A/T on the highway and it lasted forever plus was quieter than most other all-seasons.

A/T-2 would be my choice...although you can't go wrong either way. For your needs, i would narrow my choices down to Cross Terrains and A/T-2.

I did more research and I do agree with the above comments. I am really starting to lean towards the Cross Terrain or the A/T 2's. The only thing that worries me is that arent a lot of people that have any long-term mileage reports for this tire.

Anyone have any high miles on these?

Also, what kind of fuel mileage are we looking at (higher/lower than stock)?

Any AT tire is gonna give you worse mileage than road tires, which is what the CrossTerrains essentially are, as are the Dunlops. It's usually only about 1 mpg in my experience but I dunno about the AT2

Pirelli Scorpions AT does well. we just finished x country with an avg of 21 mpg avg speed 75 HOWEVER, at 60 mph my friend got 25.3 mpg.!! (pic to follow)
