Michelin's tough to find and tire reco

Thanks to a gash in my sidewall, I'm going to have to replace my MS/2s after only 3 years. Yay.

Toyota is offering buy 3, get 1 for $1, so I might as well pull the trigger on all four.

Apparently Michelin Defenders (new MS/2s) are really hard to get. After calling around, one dealer said it may take up to 7 weeks on backorder. Wondering what's going on.

I've read through a two or three dozen threads on tires, but they're all fairly dated and lots of folks who just got the tires. Not a lot of info on long term wear.

The dealer(s) can have Yokohama AT G015 or HT 6056, or the General Grabbers within 24hrs, along with a few other crappy tires. Are there any other tires that highly recommended for a 5th gen trail with 70% street traffic, and occasionally severe weather?

Just wish I could buy another set of MS/2s!

Tire Rack can get 4x Michelin Defender LTX m/s to Cincinnati by Wednesday, $204 a peice, so at least they're out there. May have to go outside the dealer.

My Discount Tire store has them in stock. I priced that "buy 3 ....etc" deal last year at my dealer, and DT was cheaper for 4. Plus they do lifetime rotate/rebalance every 5K.

I love DT. Oh yeah, also agree on the Defenders, great tire.
