Micky Thompson Classic II's

I'm looking at getting some black Micky Thompson Classic II's. They are 16x8's, 3 5/8 backspacing, -22mm offset. Can anyone tell me if I'll have rubbing issues with a 265/75 or a 285/75? What about stuffing at full flex? Anyone got pics of this set up? I've got the Sonoran Steel system 1.2 on right now so I've got some room to move. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

That's the same backspacing as my wheels. It actually will pull your tire out, so you won't have any issues with rub on your upper A-arm. I don't have any rubbing issues with 265/75/16's, but I haven't had it under full flex.

Hey man have you pulled the trigger on those rims yet? If so will you post pics? I cant decide which BS to go with. I am stuck between the 3 5/8 and 4 inch. i want to run 285s on them with a 3 inch lift

Yeah man. Got em on a while ago. It's raining right now but I'll get some pictures up this afternoon or tomorrow.
I'll say this though. I'm glad I went with the 3 5/8 backspacing. I like the pushed out look but also the handling has improved too from having a wider foot print. After I put the lift it, my truck looked (a felt, a little) like it was going to tip over. Like it was running on stilts. Now it feels like it's running on rails.

Ok. It's raining so the photos aren't that good but hopefully it'll help you decide. FYI these rims will assist your tires in throwing mud or whatever all over your ride. Riding in the rain there are roaster tails shooting up over each tire. But I kind of like the mud throwing aspect. :biggrin2:

Looks good a bit wider. What size tires are you running? I'd imagine the tires will stick out more with the 285's. These are one of my favorite rims as far as aftermarket ones go. If you get a chance, post up a side profile so we can see the new wheels.:hungry:

I'm running super bald 265/70's. I'll post up some more photos after the rain stops. I really want to go to 285s but with gas at $3.75 a gallon it's a tough decision.

I don't blame you. I'm running a stock tire/wheel size (235/75/15), and when I go to lift it and change my wheel setup, I doubt I'll go even to a 265/75/16. Probably a 265/70/16 because I don't want to pay for it in MPG. I drive a lot of dirt roads in the desert, fire roads, go camping, so since I'm not doing any hardcore wheeling, it's hard to justify. Hard to average 20 and lose a few MPG's when it's a DD. California's expensive enough let alone gas prices!

I know when I looked at tires the 265/75/16 sized tires were cheaper than 265/70/16. I guess because they are a more common size. So while you might lose a bit on gas you might save on the actual tire purchase. Just something to think about or to look at when you decide.

sorry for bumping an old thread but............ im looking into getting these as well with a 285/75. my question is........ how is the caliper clearance on these? when i purchased my 3rd gen TR4, they came with ION Alloy 171's (16x8 -5) and my caliper clearance is less than 1mm. they were literally grazing the rust of the caliper. so im just wondering about caliper clearance. i have a 96 base

Do you mean the brake caliper inside the wheel? Or somehow hitting it with the tire?

You shoud be fine. Several 1st-gen Tundra (bigger rotors/calipers) owners run those wheels (3 & 5/8" backspacing) and have no clearance issues. I test-fitted those same wheels on my 2000 Tundra several years ago and don't recall any caliper clearance problems.

FYI there are two backspacing options for the classic II's. If you're going with 285's you might consider the 3 5/8's backspacing to give you move clearance from the upper control arms.
