What do you guys think? How much would you guys pay for this?

CLEANEST 4Runner on CL! 2000 SR5 4x4 Manual! Leather! Low Miles! Pics!

Going to look at it in about an hour. NADA is about $9100 KBB says about $8100. This car was listed before for about $9300 and it was sold out from under me before I could even go see it. Until I saw it again today. He upped his asking price a ton after the deal fell through, but over the phone he seemed like he would work with me since I knew it was listed earlier. Hope its a good one.

LOL I know, but it was owned by an old guy so. That's an easy fix.

I like the fact that the clutch was done recently, I will find out about other maintenance when I get there. IE: timing, how good the tires are, ect.

There is no way i'm paying $11500 though...when I saw it two weeks ago for $9200
 
id get it if i had the money id try to talk him down a little bit, but really manual t4rs are somewhat rare and to have it be 4wd and not a crapload of miles is really awesome, i looked for mine for almost 8 months before i bought it, and i stilll ended up getting an auto (i wanted a manual really bad) but yeah sounds like a good deal
 
Yeah I've been searching on and off for about 4 months...I def don't want to buy an auto.

I hope he will work with us. ::crossing fingers::
 
I wouldn't pay $9200. Mine does not have manual or an elocker, or leather seats; but being an SR5 Highlander, it DOES have sport seats, color matched bumpers, taller/stiffer springs, etc., as well as an automatic. It also has about 20K more miles.

I paid $7200 for mine. *TOPS*, I might offer the guy $8500, unless he can demonstrate that all maintenance has been done to factory specs.
 
Good luck, it sounds like you know what you want exactly.

I'd agree with the $8500-9000 range, IF it is as clean and maintenanced as advertised. Get the VIN, and check it on Toyoto Owners section of toyota.com for dealer records.

Then you can negotiate if any upcoming maintenance will be required...ie: timing belt, etc...
 
wow a 3.4v6 with a 5speed that would be nice i never seen a 3rd gen 3.4 turck or 4runner with a 5 speed always been automatics.
 
Well we met with the guy. The car is very clean, used but clean. The owner now has it in his mind that he has a rare piece and want's to get as much as he can. I can't blame him there but its not worth $11,500 in the condition its in.

Other than the new clutch and standard maintenance, nothing else special has been done. The tires were shot, more cause of age then anything and the timing belt had yet to be done on the truck.

All in all the guy wasn't going to budge on his price, at least for now. I put my highest offer in at $9800, and tried to build a good relationship with the guy in the hopes that nobody in there right mind will pay him that and he will give me a call back.

Anyway, thanks for all the input, if I find something else or get a call back I will for sure let you guys know.
 
Just imagine he want's to try and get $11,500 out of it. I told him good luck. LOL

The good thing is we aren't in a hurry, our Jeep is running so I will find what we want and hopefully not have to pay above 9 either...
 
If he has had it fall thru once, i would think he would quickly take an easy cash deal. If somebody pays what he wants, they are foolish and it wasnt meant to be yours anyway. Give him your top dollar cash offer and your phone number. He will probably be calling you before all is said and done. Many people cant pay that kind of cash and no bank is going to lend more than book.

X2, I've had several deals fall through on used cars because the bank wouldn't lend the buyer enough to cover the agreed upon selling price as it wasn't worth that much in whatever book they use to determine the value.

The market of people willing to spend that much on a used truck, and have enough cash to not rely on the bank to make it happen, has got to be a small one.
 
If he turned down your offer of $9800 for a vehicle he had listed for $9200, then I would only leave $9200 on the table at most if he wants to come back to you.
 
Sticks are Rare and CO is one of or THE highest priced market for 4x4's no? You should probably be checking Craigslists all over the country, you would probably save $$$ by going out of your area to get the best deal on what you want...

Our bank is only giving us 60% of NADA, the offer I gave him is very tops of what i'm willing to fill in above what the bank will give me. Obviously I would love to spend less... :)

I'm not expecting a call back, but at the same time I hope he realizes that he is out of line. I wouldn't mind owning the truck.

Oh I know! I am currently using a "search bot" that I found on here to search surrounding states as well as CO. If you guys don't know about it go here. Its great for searching craigslist!

I think my only problem with going country wide is, I don't trust people and wouldn't buy something unless I can drive it or have a family/friend be able to see it...

I'm saying, it might be cheaper to fly one way somewhere and drive it home. Just find out ALL the details first and be sure you can trust the seller to be truthful. 3rd Gens are highly sought after in California, but there are SO MANY of them here, that deals can be found. I was the 3rd appt to see one on a Sunday morning 2 years ago, but the other 2 were way late and I got to test drive and hand over the $6K cash while the others watched! :) 1 owner, perfect truck. It had been his company car first, so it'd had a 100,000 service deal at the dealer. So I have records that everything has been done on time!

I can't stand shady people like that. When I was looking for a car for my fiance, I had two different people list at one price, and by the time I went to look at it, they had raised it "because they've had a lot of interest". That ticks me off more than anything. I wouldn't buy from that guy on principle alone. He won't sell for that price, and he'll regret being a douche later on.
