Im 15 and I have been looking around for 4runners for a first car. I may purchase this one or one just like it. I just need some advice on buying this car and the modifications i want to do to it. What is the best direction to take when putting in a custom stereo/speakers?

Call the dealer and have them run the VIN # to make sure your headgaskets were replaced under the recall.
and a steering rod recall too.
manual or auto?

93 with 116K low miles and she looks good too.

Thanks I will work on calling up the deal about that. Its the 4-speed Automatic with overdrive. And its got some kind of extra power button, I haven't quite figured it out. I love it so far, i bought it in Boulder monday. That day i drove it back over the continental divide on some one way dirt pass that called "Old Fall River Road" (off of trail ridge). Since then i have been doing highway driving. This evening I drove it up a mountian that i live at the base of, climbed up some pretty steep rock roads. I love how it handles on and off the road. The breaks feel perfect. The accelaratoin and power aren't really as bad as everyone says. The only cons i have found so far are that it pulls to the right. And when driving at speeds around 55-65 the transmission takes a minture or two to finally shift into 4 gear. Like the overdrive isn't turning back on when i turn it off. Both could probably be fixed with allignment and a transmission kit. I haven't decided what i gonna do about the stereo, i was planning on doing a complete re-do getting deck, speakers/subs, and amp. But the stock radio with CD and Tape really works well and sounds pretty good too. I predict this 4runner will treat me pretty well.

Nice find. I bought my 1993 4Runner a month ago and like it a lot. I think that yours and mine are like twins because they look exactly alike. Only bad thing is that it's a gas guzzler. What did you end up getting it for?

I paid $4k for mine and it had 118k miles and all service paperwork.

you should hook me up with some advice on replacing the stereo.

i was thinking of keeping the stock cd/ tape player and getting new speakers, which is like 6 of them right? seems like the stock player has enough juice to power newer better speakers. then i was gonna but a sub or two, with a seperate amp to run those.

Nice looking truck. My buddy has a green one like yours except his is an '95 V6 SR5 4x2 w/110k miles on it. His dad is a mechanic and has serviced it since new. I almost got him to sell it to me so that I can have a spare 4R, but he decided to keep it. It purrs like new and his dad recently overhaulled all the major engine components as he is selling his shop and retiring. Too bad, he would've sold it to me for around $5k.

The rear backrest can be folded but the seat bottoms get in the way and you can't fold it down flat and make it a flatbed in the back to sleep. Is there a way to get the bottoms to come up? It seems like it's locked down but i don't know how to release it. Let me know bud. thanks

You have to reach down in between the seat bottom and the part that your back rests on. There are little straps in there that you pull and the seat bottom pulls forward. You have to remove the headrests to make the seat lay flat.
