We are doing another Death Valley Trip after Christmas you are more than welcome to come. A guy from here drove out here from Louisiana to come on last year's trip.

I greatly appreciate it. I would consider it but I'll be in Vegas for New Years and then Disneyland for mid Jan. If I could take more time off I would! I look forward to seeing the pics from that trip.

Just finished up a great trip to Death Valley with my friends on toyota120 (and here)
So this was a great trip and thanks to everyone for being such an awesome group to hang out with.
Day 1, Lone Pine, CA:We all met up at the Mt. Whitney restaurant in Lone pine, CA around 4:30 for dinner before heading up the hill in the dark to look for a camping spot. It was a very cold night and very windy. We headed out and checked out a few sights before deciding to opt out of the scavenger hunt. We found some decent cover from the wind behind some rock formations and put together a good camp fire. as the fire burnt out and the alcohol was depleted we all said our good nights and were off to bed.
Day 2, Owens and Saline Valley, CA The next morning was brisk, but the wind was gone. We were greeted by a spectacular sunrise and the scenic sierras didn't fail to impress. We all gathered around and cooked up our breakfasts and exchanged stories. After packing up we headed off to the arches trail in the Alabama hills. We set out after that for the Moffat mine and on up to the Reward mine. We decided to walk in as we didn't want to go through the trouble of taking off our RTTs. the mine was pretty cool. We found some upper levels that we had not previously explored driving down in previous trips. We headed up to make some lunch. We headed over the mountains to the springs. We got to the springs right at sunset which provided for a great view to welcome us. The springs weren't too crowded and we had a great dinner together and some of us took a dip in the pool. Overnight it was calm and a little chilly, but a great nights sleep.
Day 3, Saline and Death Valley: When we woke up in the morning we were greeted by the locals with howling and some cheerful brays. We cooked out again and took our time getting packed up enjoying the beautiful view of the Inyo mountains. Our travels took us up over the famous Lippincott pass to the fabled Racetrack playa. After a quick lunch at the Racetrack we headed up to the crater and Scotty's castle before saying our goodbyes.

Your trips/pictures never cease to amaze me. I am not saying that in a negative way, it's just what I am used to while reading your stories, and checking out the amazing photography.

So no snow on the trails? I'm headed out there on the 10th. We plan to do a modified version of the trip.
BTW I'm probably going to go out to Moab, UT again in May with the TW group. It would be great to see you out there.

There was some snow on the North pass and some ice. I slid my truck into a rock wall on a turn. the SW bumper took it so no damage, just needed to slow down. I'm sure there will be more snow after today's storm, so be careful.
Thanks for the invite, but that is right before I am supposed to deploy again this summer.

Mojave Preserve Snow Run 2014 (last run of the year)
So it has been cold and windy the last few days since the DV trip and the Mojave Preserve has had about 3 inches of snow dumped on it. This is a rare occurrence and I was very eager to get out and play in it!
