This 2007 SE V6, 265/70-17 Firestone Destination, was getting 22 MPG on the interstate. Oil change, gear oil, MAF clean, and 6 new Denso plugs. City mileage has not come up much. about 14.7 now. I was getting 15.5 in town. will try a short Interstate test soon. what else can I check? no error codes.

Denso were right on, numbers not in front of me now. originals were in there at 44,xxx. dealer did gear oil and free LOF. the original Interstate MPG were on first set of tyres. I figured plugs and MAF would have cleaned up MPG.

Usually keep them at 35, maybe 20K on them now. retired now, don't get much mileage on them anymore.
 
Original tyres when I bought it in late 2007. dunlop? I was traveling a lot then. yes, I do know how to figure out the MPG with my new tyre size.

How were you getting 22mpg? That sounds a little crazy to me. I thought the best a 4runner got was 18.

that mileage was in the first 10-15 K all stock, lots of Interstate runs. Miss that mileage, and I know the larger tyres have a little something to do with that. Temps have dropped here, I will check pressures tomorrow. Half of that mileage was my wife's steady foot.

I had OBD Fusion up for part of a recent road trip and the Instant MPG read 23.5 on cruise control at 55 mph on level ground. Surprised me.
 
I average 18 to 20 mpg in town [hand calculated] and 20 to 23 on the highway[depending on speed]

Only big variable I've found other than the go pedal is gas quality. Even when bought at the same station, different deliveries give different mpg. I drive about 650 miles a week.

The refiners could have made changes to the fuel, you never know just how their blending the fuels as they change their blend in winter and summer.

Then your state might require a new blend to comply with a new law they have passed, California is one state that makes changes they require the refiners to change a fuel blend.

Just something to think about, not implying it's the problem.
 
pressure were: 32, 34, 34, 34. will take care of that next fill up. Not sure when Gas goes to 'winter blend' up North here. always a drop in MPG.
 
In Oregon, it is a ethanol blend. That is why I like getting fuel in California on trips. fun times.

Earlier this summer I stopped for gas in upstate New York. They had 91octane non-ethanol fuel available. Filled up going into the Adirondack park, filled up some more for the trip home.

Result, non ethanol gas delivered a additional 4mpg for the trip home. Also really felt the difference in how the 4runner ran.

If you're near agricultural land maybe you can find non-ethanol fuel? It's worth it.
