Military Style Decal Idea

The other day I installed some decals on the C-pillar of my runner and it got me thinking about the shape of the C-pillar. Its very similar to an aircraft tail. I thought it would be cool to do a military style tail number design and incorporate T4R.org and my forum handle.

I mocked one up (on white for contrast) and I'm curious what the community thinks. Also I'm sure there may be some implications of using the site name without permission so this is also me asking permission.

I think this particular layout would work on the pillar of 4th and 5th gens but it could easily just go on the rear glass of 1st-3rd gens due to the much narrower pillar

Thanks. I've got flags there now, that's what gave me the idea. I was thinking of incorporating the model year somehow so that could be worked into where you're suggesting the other numbers. Maybe drop the 0RG altogether and do T4(MM/YY) with the forum join date

If I knew what squadron that was I could probably find a more straight on image to work with. Easy enough to find similar images but not the affiliation. Any input on that? Also I wouldn't recommend getting actual tail art on your Runner unless you were personally affiliated with the unit it belongs to.

It didn't take long, I just hadn't looked yet because I've been busy. Also didn't know if I wanted to venture down the rabbit hole of people asking me to mock up graphics on their rigs lol

I was just thinking of this during the week. I'm definitely a fan of this and would probably grab one.

I'd suggest doing a group buy in order to get a lot of these out. It would be really cool, and would make the "spotted" posts more interesting since you'll know who you spotted.

I have a buddy out here who would probably be able to do these, I just haven't reached out to him yet. The designs were on my work computer so I had to get them on flash drive so I can send them to him to spec out.

I like it because it would give us a uniform look, and show that community bond. It would be ideal if they could all be placed in a similar location on all gens, but I know that's going to be difficult.

Technically since the 4Runners never came with the TRD Off Road bedside decal we could own that spot for this.

I don't like the idea of putting a sticker on my paint. But on the rear side bay window... that would work.

Being in aviation the one thing I could recommend doing to make it seem more aviation like and stand out to to aviators would be to the the AC from the FAA starting on Page 7 Section D followed into Section E with table 2 being your reference for a sizing guideline for the numbering. I know this may be a little extreme but would make it more legit. I would use my model year as the tail number and if you read into the N marking section page 6 section A and make it a T instead of an A. Might make it look pretty cool. Just an idea for you. Cool concept all in all though. And the previous designs still look cool. I have considered painting decals on mine similar to the Blackhawks I work on.
