MilMed's Build

Hey guys, I purchased a 2017 SR5 and am currently based out of Las Vegas. I am planning for this car to be my daily driver/weekend get away car. I will be going on road trips where it may see some adverse terrain. Will definitely be seeing dirt/sand, gravel, snow, and the occasional rocks.

This is how the car looked when I got her.

My SCS Ray10 wheels also came in so I am waiting on the local shop to receive my E/T lug nuts so I can mount them.

I am also waiting on my GOBI rack to come in late April so I can install that and also mount my 40 inch black oak light bar to it. I am fairly new to the 4runner world so any advice would be great! I am currently on the fence between the BFG KO2, GY Duratracs, Yokohama Geolandars, and General Grabber AT2. Any feedback on personal experiences would be extremely helpful.

N-fab Nerf Bars and SCS wheels

265/70/17 Cooper Discoverer STT pro
SCS Ray 10's 17 x 8.5
N-fab nerf bars

I got the cooper discoverer STT pro after a friend with a tundra recommended it. He initially told me to go with the Toyo Open Country MT, but I wasn't too fond of the fact that they were 63 pounds per tire.

I'll see you around. I live in the Bay Area but own a second home in vegas. We usually go there every month to check on things.

That's funny cause I just came from the bay area. I was in the Hayward/Castro Valley area for the past 3 years.

Let me know when you are in the area and we can meet up. Hopefully my crazy school schedule permits

Just got back from military officer training in Rhode Island and finally got out to Joshua Tree with my 4runner. A friend of mine had just picked up a new tacoma off road so we wanted to see what their capabilities were in the desert.

Campsite once sun was setting (finally dropped below 100 degrees)

Shot of the toyotas

Got some climbing in during the day.

Overall I liked how the 4runner felt with stock suspension, but it definitely got squirrely around 40 to 50 mph on the dirt. Icon stage 5/gobi rack/black oak LED bar should be on the car by beginning - mid August and I'll try another desert run to test them out.

Are you close to Silverado Ranch and Maryland pkwy? My house is off St rose and Las Vegas Blvd.

Finally got the stage 5 icon system onto my 4runner and it is amazing! Feels so much more composed on the road and it takes away the majority of the squatting under braking. While driving on the streets, I have hit dips/bumps and it seems to soak it up pretty well. I have yet to do any desert runs, but I will be sure to update you guys in the future.

Gobi FINALLY delivered the roof rack after 5 months. Will get the rack and light bar onto the car soon. Hopefully...

I live pretty close to Sunset Station on Gibson and go to school down the street. I drive by Pecos/St Rose from time to time cause I workout at the 24 hour fitness down there. I also hit up Dog Supplies Outlet on St. Rose.

FINALLY got my gobi rack on my car after 6 to 7 months of waiting on Gobi. They originally sent a rack but it ended up getting lost in transit. They had to send another one and I finally was able to get it on the car.

I feel like I am satisfied with how my build has turned out. I am hoping to take the runner out to Zion in the near future as well as a few mountain trails.

Looking great I am currently waiting on my gobi to be built.

I am VERY happy with the build quality of the GOBI rack and it doesn't sit too high up from the car. The only drawback of the GOBI rack is the obscene amount of time it takes to actually get the rack. Good luck on your build!

Nice rig! There is a dedicated Vegas thread, but not a whole lot gets done through it. I know a few Vegas guys go on runs with the FJ Cruiser club. There is a meet up/donation event hosted by BattleBorn Toyotas tonight at the PDQ on Craig Rd.

Sorry I just saw this message today! I was out in Philadelphia for a medical conference. I will definitely try to keep up with the vegas thread to see what's going on

Rig looks clean!

How is the pavement road noise with the STT PRO tires???

Thank you! When I first got the tires put on, there was a ton of road noise but as they broke in the noise became a lot quieter.

When I have the windows up and the radio on moderate volume I can't hear it. When I have the windows down with the radio on, it's a nice little hum.
