Hi all, anyone interested in a mini-meet? Rory (Bala de Plata) was kind enough to offer his help in installing my audio system, which we currently have planned for next weekend, Feb 24th. We could all hang out, talk about our cars, help each other install anything if time permits, then go on a small run. Let me or him know who can make it just to get an idea of how many people might show up. And the best part, FREE BEER AND PIZZA ON ME!!! :beer:

Thats right, I almost forgot about this. Yeah, anyone in the area that wants to come by, come by. PM myself or JMT and we can exchange #'s and directions to my place. I am in Rancho Santa Margarita. JMT, maybe we should plan the run for first thing in the am or something and then do installs. I dont have any time constraints and would rather top off on beer and pizza after gettin a little crazy on the trails. Let me know.

think my brother with his 05 taco may show and another buddy with a f-150. he's a freind, but I make fun of his ford anyway.
Sid, if your buddy comes out he could get all jealous like my brother in how much better a 4runner with good suspension is better in ride to a taco. I let my brother drive my rig and I drove his last weekend. He hates me now, such a huge difference in the ride from a 4runner to a taco. 4runner is so much smoother cause of the fully boxed frame and the body acts almost as a roll cage in that it keeps everything stiff to the frame and lets the suspension take up all the beating. Where as a taco flexs and squeaks all over the place. Haha

Sorry to take the thread off topic and I'm not in close enough to your neck of the woods to go wheelin' with you guys. I wish I was to meet some of you guys and add some mud to the 4R.
But here's some fuel for the fire Bala de Plata, I have a '05 Taco DC short bed similar to your bro's that I saw in another thread. But definately the 4Runner rides more comfortably, smoother and quieter than the Tacoma. Not to take anything away from the Tacoma, it's a great truck, but the 4Runner is equally robust and capable with more comforts.

Its looking like I wont have my rig up and running by Saturday and I may need to be somewhere in the am til about 1. i can still offer to host even just to help you out with your stereo JMT. Did you get all your stuff? And Sid or anyone else that wants to come by is welcome. I would enjoy going with you guys on the trail too. I miss my truck :dammit:

On a side note, my roommate and I went to Holy Jim this afternoon and played a bit in the puddles and the mud. And, the bad news... I sustained my 4R's first battle wound. I was stopped next to my roommate's Taco to grab his camera and a little Suzuki or something floored it near us and shot a rock into my rear hatch door, just above the bumper. It left me with a couple scratches and a minor dent. :bash:
My 4Runner is only two and a half weeks old, too.

I PMed you about installing the speakers. Do I need to purchase some speaker adapters (to allow 6.5" components to be installed in the front doors)?

Yes, you will need speaker adapters. The best I have seen, IMO, are the Scoshe ones. I made my own out of plexiglass that I got from Home Depot and routed them with my dremel. Its doable but easier to buy. Sorry if I didnt get back to you on the PM, not to sound like a jerk, but I get alot of PM's and I lose track of them. I may have to double on helping you and working on my own truck. I think I will find out today what my schedule will be. I may have to move my truck into the garage as its been on the street for a while. If thats the case we can work on yours in the driveway.

Hate to say it, but most likely a first of possible many. I have lost count of the little knicks and sh*t. That's what you gotta come to grips with if you really want to play, took me a while to come to terms with it. That or become really good friends with a body shop.

Ok, I dont have to work on Saturday at all. So the only thing I will have going is probably a damn good hangover :beer: . And I do need to get my truck in the garage, but I think I got that handled. The better news is Lance (aka good times) may come down and give me a hand on my truck. I have to pull out the entire 3rd member which means removing both rear axles, uhhh. I kinda feel bad for Lance to come down, but he offered and I think I may take him up on it. Now dont think this means I cant help you JMT, I can take the interior apart damn near blindfolded and I got all the tools you'll need. Including if you decide you want to make your own speaker adapters. Let me know, I will PM you my address again, as well as you Sid.

PM sent, and we will have plenty of time to do yours. It really sholdnt take that long to do what I gotta do. All Im doing is removing it, so on monday I can take it to All Pro (I hope). My skills have vastly improved since that last time we meet up.
And if Lance comes down, we could cut that time in half probably. Maybe 1 1/2 hours tops I think to giterdone. Besides, my truck may not be full speed running again for at least 2-3 weeks. Im planning on taking full advantage of my F-up and get some stuff done I have been putting off. Gears, Locker, Air Compressor, Stainless exhaust and maybe an AFC. But I will have to see how everything works out. Thank goodness for bonus checks!!

Im usually up by eight on Saturdays. I will probably get started on my stuff and just see what time anyone makes it. No real set schedule at this point. Keep us posted.
I'm going to place an order for the Scosche front speaker adapters today and should get them tomorrow. I called Scosche and they gave me the same part # as you, but those are flat, so I dont know how they will fit. Here are some pictures. I think we might have to come up with an adapter on our own.
I was thinking of maybe somehow using the old factory mount (tearing apart the old speaker of course). With this method, I dont know how the new speaker will stay attached to the mount though.
