Minor Pet Peeve

While I continue to love the beast, the one small pet peeve that I have is that for some reason the AC setting in my T4R is programmed in such a way that every time I fire up the beast the vent setting goes to 'recirculating the air inside'
Does anyone know why? Has anyone had this changed?
One of the reasons that this is a pet peeve is that I was once told that it is not good for a vehicle to be on this setting for a long time- is this true?

does this happen for any temperature you have the ac set to? if the temp control knob is to its most cold (furthest left) position, it automatically turns on the recirculator because it is on "max ac". it you turn temp control knob one click to the right, circulator should go off. if not, have it looked at.
 
well known on the 4th gen's as well

It will do that automatically when the A/C is set to MAX. Check to see if the dial is turned all the way to the left, then click it one back, should be your issue. It has been discussed here, search is helpful :)
 
There is a fix for this, if you can search for it. IIRC it involves holding the recirculate button for some amount of time to change its default behavior.
 
I hate vehicles that do the exact opposite.

Recirculation helps get the vehicle cooler quicker, helps keep outside dust, smells and exhaust out and it helps dehumidify the inside lowering the possibility of funky molds or smells coming from inside the vehicle.

In opposition to popular belief, it will not starve the vehicle of oxygen. The system and seals around the truck just aren't that tight. It just helps limit the amount of outside air coming in, maybe from 100 to 30 or 40%. I still notice diesel smells coming in when a truck is in front of me just nowhere to the degree if the recirculation was off.

Recirculation is a good thing, be thankful.
 
Also, mine has never been off "recirc" and the inside is still fresh and smells new after numerous 10 hour trips and even a family trip to the beach, which still amazes me.
 
Thanks guys! Ok, so I ran a search and you guys were correct-this issue was indeed discussed. However
a) TrailHawk- I could not find the fix that you mentioned in your reply where you said that holding the button down for a little bit will change its default behavior- I tried it- did not work- perhaps hold it down longer?
b) I really do not mind having the recirculate function on as long as I know that it is not damaging the beast in anyway.
As I mentioned in my original post- someone once told me that having the recirculate button on for a long time is not good for the vehicle- what do you guys think? Is this true?
 
ANT-NY- It seems to stay on regardless of whether the temperature is set to LO or if I turn it to a higher temperature.
 
Just don't leave recirc on with the AC off — you'll fog up the inside windows pretty quick if there's any moisture around, even from your own breathing.

No ****. This is day number 27 straight of 100 degree plus heat. I haven't seen a cloud in months. My foundation is settling and my grass is dying despite a $250 water bill. LOL
 
i know right?! ive had my a/c on full blast 24/7 for the last 2 months.

a few nights ago i was driving home at 1am... it was 95 degrees...


oh and to stay on topic, yes it was on recirc the whole time. i only use outside air after i smoked in it. (i would turn ac off while i smoked and rolled down my window, then turn off the recirc and ac back on once i was done)

but that doesnt matter cause i quit smoking 2 days ago. what what!!! so far so good. we will see how it goes after i have a few drinks tonight.
