Hello all, as some of you may know, I bought a Mio C310X at Circuit City on Black Friday. The following is a sort of short-term review of it

FIRST IMPRESSION:
The relative size of it is about 4" x 3" and about .73" thick. It is like a "pearl" white. There is no little "antennae" protruding from the unit, only a little hump on the top of it. The screen is a 3.5" touch screen. There are 4 buttons on the side, Vol. +/-, menu and power.
When initially turning on you are prompted wit time zone settings and time and date. You are then taken to "map" mode, which is essentially a map with now dist, time and speed info. It finds a signal within 45 seconds, which is also due to the SiRif unit in it. When going to cock pit mode there is 3 field that are customizable, currently min says current time, speed and miles traveled. It update without lagging. Route entering is very quick and precise, it also automatically reroutes if you go off course, it also has voice guidance, but not TTS. Ex: : Approaching intersection, make a right turn in 57 feet". It is a male voice, but sounds like a real person, not Microsoft sam. It's voice guidance is precise and warns you in a very good amount of time to make lane changes, ect. It also changes with speed, so if your going faster it will alert you sooner than if you are going slower. In cockpit mode, and on a route, it has a status bar on the side of the screen that goes down as you travel, to show when your next turn is.
ROUTE TRAVELING:
I decided to put it to the test of traveling a route. From CC i entered my address and is programed as Home. When entering a city, or street name a screen will pop up saying the letters you entered, once there is less then about 10. Surprisingly the POI is pretty up dated. It had CC and alot of other stores. Once traveling out out the lot it tells you when to turn and stuff. I decided to see how fast auto route re calculation works and went off course. The guy said "Recalculating" And within seconds a new route was created.
OTHER STUFF:
It also has different color schemes for both night and day, and brightness is also customized. The screen is very good during the day and is perfectly visible. It has 2 GB ROM, 64 MB ram and a 400 MHz processor. The SD expansion slot is useful for MP3's and other maps. It has different viewing modes like 3D, 2D, overview north orientation. The Night/Day mode is also automatic. The window mount is very strong, even after the release is switched i still have to put my nail on it to get it off. It is also a very strong signal, in the depth of my house, in the depth of CC and in our car, it never failed to get a signal within 45 seconds. If the skin doesn't fit you, pver a gpspassion.com they have other hacks for this device. If you don't like to take toll ways for example, in the options menu it has customizations for that kind of stuff too.
Overall I rate it a 9/10 . For $150 this thing is unbeatable in that price range.
