Surprised I didn't see this. I'm doing this in about 15 minutes... I'll see how it goes. I got mine off ebay for 70 bucks shipped, it's like $240 from the stealership. I actually lost mine on a tree while I was off roading through a thicket of mesquite trees.

Just FYI, it's extremely easy. Just remove the plastic push screw that's covered when you close the door, the screw behind the plastic cover of the door handle, and the screw hidden behind the armrest (to remove the armrest just pull up). After that, you're ready to remove the door panel. Start from the bottom pulling outward and eventually you'll hear each of the plastic fasteners pop. Once they're done, lift up and remove the whole panel. It will still be attached by wires for the power locks and the door opening mechanism but if you're careful it can safely hang. Then just remove the 3 bolts for the mirror, the rest is obvious. Reverse the steps.

Yeah it was really easy. It took me about 20 minutes from start to finish is all. You might want to remove the sail piece right above the door panel to make it easier. It just snaps off. Thanks to all who have posted and given me help in this thread.

I got my mirror prepainted from partznet. Total was $220. The ones on ebay (~$79) are similar but they weren't prepainted. They might be replicas.


anyway, it was easier to get them prepainted.

Yeah 10 mm socket as well as a phillips head screwdriver for 2 screws and a flat screwdriver for prying.
You can get the SR5 mirror for $65 at go-part.com which is the non-painted black plastic, which comes on the SR5s. The prepainted for the Sport and Limited are more expensive like you said.

mine is a replica, made in china i think. i have the SR5 so no need for me to paint it but any bodyshop would be able to do it for cheap.

Kind of on a the same but topic. Can't the mirror casing be taken off its mount? Mine is currently loose to it moves around quite a bit so I got out and kinda of moved it around. It's lose from its pivot point. I noticed a small panel beneath the assembly. Does anyone know if that panel give you access to tighten the mirror on its mount?
