What bulbs are used for the mirror turn signals. Wanted to replace them with white ones. I havent been able to find any listed for mirror turn signals, just turn signals-1156.

So I tried to just see what bulbs are in there and couldnt even figure how to get at them. So Ive upgraded my question to a 2-parter. What bulb is it and how do I get at it?

Actually, my SR5 has both, puddle lights and turn signal. Both are accessed by removing the mirror. It just clicks out once it is adjusted to the far travel.

what the hell..
I don't have those! anyone has pictures?

though, I don't have door courtesy lights either...:\

Having put LEDs in the puddle lamps, to say the mirror "just clicks out", is just a tad understated IMO. It does snap out, but until you've done one, you'll swear you're breaking it before it lets go.

@ OP: Just curious, why would you want to make your (mirror) turn signal less visible?

And aren't turning signals supposed to be amber? IDK.

I changed my DRL to white, see Harper7's rig for photos, because I liked the way it looked. Obviously the DRL's also flash along with the mirrors when turning and with the mirrors yellow and the DRL's white, I wanted them to match, or at least see how they looked matching. Just trying things out.

I popped the mirror out and the puddle lamp is visible but the turn signal is buried somewhere. Maybe behind the mirror motor? I was looking for some intel before I just started taking stuff apart.

so I checked my mirrors. I have housings for the turn signals, but no LEDs in them.. another project to add to the list.
I'm ready to bet that toyota is using the same system for 4R as in Corollas, tCs, tundras etc - LED strip instead of the bulbs.

I did change the LED color in my tC back in the day, but I had to solder new leds on.

Turn signal

Esmatt when you change out the turn signal bulbs please post some pics and of the DRL if it looks good I will be switching mine out:thumb3:

I'm gonna try to pop out the cover today to tint it a little bit with night shade. Ill let you know what I see.

Sweet, looking forward to hearing what you find. I started to take apart the mirror motor housing but it was getting dark and never finished or went any farther.

I failed miserably today. Couldn't get the mirrors apart and had to quit before I used my 3 iron to get em off the truck. The mirror comes off easy enough and the inside comes out fine but the back of the mirror housing is a mother to get off. Eight or so clips were seven and a half too many today. I think I'm going to tape off the mirrors to spray the nightshade.

Wish I could have been more help...... and could get those three hours back.

On a more positive note, my buddy is starting on some sliders for the 4Runner. So I got that going for me.
