Missing skid plate??

So the LE is missing a rear skid plate?

My photo was facing the front not the rear, not that it makes a difference.

Nah, I think all 4runners should have that portion of the skid plate (LE or not)...

And yeah, the direction of the picture seems consistent with what I thought I was looking at. I think if u go back under your truck with OP's first picture and match up the LCA adjustment cams to your undercarrige it will all make more sense Danny

Well, in that pic you can see your front diff and axle, along with the oil pan and drain bolt. That skid should have come with the truck...:sorry:

I recently reviewed a '14 Limited that has another little skid plate where I think you're talking about; my '14 SR5 does not. You have to remember we're talking two different 4WD systems, and I think the Limited's full-time system has it and the SR5's part time does not. It's purely due to a different transfer case design in my view, and yours (and mine) don't need it. The Limited does for some reason. Somebody on this forum knows the answer for sure, I'll wager.

WTF? Did you take your truck to the dealer for service or something? My dealer misplaces bolts but hasn't lost a skid. That's pretty much the most important one IMO since it's protecting the oil pan.

I'm thinking either that or the body shop left off when doing the conversion, although I can't imagine why they would take it off. FML

And even if it was for an oil change, there's still no reason to take it off, unless they had some HUGE mitts and couldn't fit their hands through the drain plug cut out door.

Danny, can you think of any other service you had done that involved removing that particular skid? Front diff, front axle, etc...

lol - that's sad I'm pissed.

I did ask them to check if the any of the diff's/transfer case needed an oil change.. So they checked and said no (which is another story, i'm coming up on 50k and haven't changed any of the diff oils).

Anyway - i'm thinking maybe thats when they left it off.. Anyone know how much that oem skid is?

Hmmm. If I was trying to convince my S.O. that I needed aftermarket skidplates I might make up a story about my factory plates going missing and how the truck isn't safe to drive without them.:decision:

Going that route if I can't get the dealer to fess up.

In all actuality, I don't even think it's safe to drive ON THE ROAD with that piece missing.

I agree, if you can't get them to replace it for free, I would just get a set of ARBs or something and call it a day. Light duty, but also light on the wallet
