Moab/Arches National Park

I have been in Moab for 3 days now, and have already been on some of the most fun/challenging trips I could imagine in a stock 4Runner thanks to Charles Wells' Guide to Moab. I must say his books are well written and so far extremely accurate. The only problem is it makes me want to spend 10k on lifts/sliders/wheels/tires in order to do some of the 'difficult' trails!

the trail is supposed to be tough for stock SUV's, but the 4Runner didn't even blink!

Although I did grind the heck out of my tow hitch coming down a few places. Anyone know if you could cause a lot of damage by hitting that hitch?

Lots of sand, the stock tires had no problem! I was able to get up a soft sand hill that the park service says is 'impassible' without any trouble.

I'll be here for another couple of weeks if anyone wants to get together for a couple of trails...

Great pics! I'm reasonably close so I have no excuse for not gettin' up there sometime.

My opinion is the hitch is indestructable and I've scrapped/hit mine so many times the issue is settled with me. You just have to watch out for the tailpipe if you come down at just the right angle depending on how much you care about denting it.

Sweet pics man!!! Hitch no prob, exhaust tip big problem. I got tired of fixing mine so I had the rear resonator cut of and had it turned out to the side behind the rear wheel. Much better now.

Moab was nice enough to steal my exhaust when I went I got a free mod out there... I ended up cutting the entire exhaust on the trail!! eek! now flowin free ~

btw, those photos are beautiful.. can't wait to go back out there

I WILL be making this same trip, and can't wait. Did you consider/see the "Lion's Back"? A couple years ago I did the Charles Wells' Guide to Colorado, It was one of the best road trips I've ever been on. Pike's Peak was awesome; "Real Men Don't Need Guard Rails"!:driving:

Sounds like something I need to do. Out of curiosity, how'd that affect the sound? Did you just find a local welder to do it?

Great pics! That looks like a ton of fun. Almost makes me wish I had a 4WD model

Anyways, are you out there wheeling by yourself? That's usually not adviseable in case you get stuck or break something...
