MOAB Trip - OOA June 14th

Some of my local 4x4 club members are putting together a trip out west to MOAB on or about (OOA) June 14th.

Details are developing. I haven't decided if I'm going to drive my 4Runner out there, or tow it. Depends on how the upgrades go before the time comes.

In case you haven't heard a lot powerful companies have joined forces and are seeking to shut down most of the offroad area around Moab. This is similar to what happened to Telico NC a few years ago. After a long battle we lost access to the Telico trails. So with this in mind I'm heading back to Moab in June and invite anyone who like to come.

My plan is too drive and camp on on the trail. I plan to take more scenic trails and camp along the way rather than the more difficult ones.

So I will not be staying in a hotel or campground in town. I'm considering White Rim trail (2 or 3 days) and Elephant Hill (2-3 days).

I will create a database so anyone interested please sign up (even if you are only interested in going). Also feel free to ask for more details.

What Gerd said. If you're going to camp on Park land when you do Elephant Hill you'll need campground reservations too.

I'll watch this, I'm always down for Moab if I can get the time off.

Since I've never been to MOAB I invite any and all the information you guys have.

We are still in the initial planning stages, and at this point everything is still fluid.

FYI - I (and possibly my wife) will start our trip out to MOAB from Charles Town West Virginia. We plan to take our time getting there, and possibly have some 4x4 stops along the way. Arriving at the meeting spot (that will be determined later) on June 14th.

Note: We all have CB radios in our vehicles and when off-roading are always on Channel 4. If you are thinking of joining up with us - you might want to consider installing a CB.

I do that so the town is not confused with the park. However if you're sensitive to this I'll be more politically correct, and avoid the upper-case lettering of MOAB...
