Mobil 1 vs Valvoline

Hey there guys, I last changed my oil using mobil 1 fully synthetic. Gotta say i love the stuff even with how expensive it is. However autozone has a oil change kit with valvoline fully synthetic for $30, compared to 50 for mobil 1. Is there a significant difference between the two? Would it be harmful to switch? Thanks

That's a deal you can't pass up! It's still fully synthetic and Valvoline is a good brand so I'm sure your engine won't even tell the difference.

Any full synthetic is overkill if you change the oil sooner the 10K miles and it is just a matter of which brand name make you feel more comfortable.

But synthetic may be worth it if you only change your oil once a year even if you only see 5000 miles in that time since synthetic is more stable when just sitting and sucks up more moisture and particulates if driven infrequently better than dino stuff.

I'm a big believer in time the oil is in your engine;right now I change mine around 11 months which is usually right before winter really sets in and I generally accumulate around 8000 miles in that time. I run M1 with a Puralator PureOne filter but I'd use Castrol or Valvoline in a pinch or I found a deal on either.

I love mobil 1. It's all i use in my cars now. You can get the 5qt jug at Wally World (Wal-Mart) for $25. $20 if its on sale.

That being said Valvoline is good too.

M1 is fine as is the Valvoline. But if you plan on sticking with M1 AND tend to go beyond 10,000 miles between oil changes, then M1 EP is the ticket.

x 2 on Wally World. I've found Autozone to be way overpriced on all their oils. I buy a case of 10 OEM Toyota filters on line for $40 and get the Mobil 1 at Walmart.
