Mobile Grease (Pink Stuff) Turned to Oil?

I'm handy with a wrench but haven't needed a grease gun until my '08 started the driveline clunk, so I picked one up and some Mobile grease, the pink stuff, and did the drive shaft last November.

This weekend I went out to do the u-joints and swaybar bushings, was getting my work area set up, grabbed my Lincoln grease gun (this one) still loaded from November and as I turn the gun upright, pink oil starts to run out of it. Made a helluva mess.

I opened the gun- oil everywhere by now- and there's definitely still grease of the expected consistency but I'm totally lost on the oil.

Anyone ever had grease in a grease gun turn to oil in six months?

There is going to be some liquid stuff but not enough to be an issue. Oil is a part of grease and some of it will separate after storage.

Thanks, good info in the link. All makes sense

I estimate 2-3 oz of oil came from the gun, definitely l more than I would've expected. Think I'll unload it between uses next time.

Happens to me when it's hot. Always makes huge mess, and is a pia. All my grease guns do it but the moly grease seems to do it less.
