Modified & Painted my TJM Bumper

Some of you have asked that I post a few photos of my recent modified & color mathced TJM over here, so here you go. The complete back side of the bumper has been sprayed in black bedliner. The front bottom half is also done in black bedliner. Obviously the rest of it has been color matched.

Bumper turned out great IMO. WabFab did an outstanding job modifying it and my local body shop did a job prepping/sanding/filling and spraying it.

Details on the full build can be found here: Modified my TJM T-15 Bumper - WabFab Style - YotaTech Forums. A few short videos of the lights in action are posted there too. Enjoy.

Good job! I like how you incorporated the fogs into your bumper. This is something I may want to do. Thanks for posting.

Looks great. I have a line on 2 1st gen roll bars and plan on doing that MOD and like the looks of the Ivan Stewarts. Guess I am just a copy cat..LOL Although I am thinking of getting my roll bar color matched to the tan interior. Your Truck looks really sweet. Keep it up

Good stuff.

I particularly like that you welded the wings on instead of persisting with the bolt on and rubber strip style, which was my number one dislike on the TJM's.

I think color matched bullbars look great. I would have matched mine if my rig wasn't black already.

Thanks for all the comps guys. :bigok:

Does looks awesome, but it's going to be some gut wrenching the first time you actually need to use it offroading!

Tell me about it. Guess I'll just have to pay more attention to what I run into off road now. :D

Really good work. :dancin: What sort of paint/primer/clear coat did you use?

Thanks. No clue on the paint though. I took it to a well respected body shop I've used for years. They painted it just as though they were painting a hood or door on any vehicle. Just told them I wanted it color matched & cleared and bedliner spayed on the bottom portion of the front. They were kind enough to spray the entire backside in black bedliner too.

It took them about a week just to prep it for paint. Had they not spent that time to get it just so, the new silver paint would have just magnified any imperfections left behind. Owner of the shop said his guys enjoyed doing the work though...said it was much more challenging than prepping/painting one dimensional body panels all day.

Looks great, But whens the Warn 9000i goin on?:D

LOL, you will never catch me going on a trail where a winch is required. I'm old school...if I can't conquer a trail under my own 4 wheels, then I ain't going on it. I'll find another line instead. This 4Runner is not a hard core wheeler by any means. If I ever did get stuck, I've got friends I ride with who do have winches. Of course we all carry tow straps too.

I agree. I have always disliked the stock design of the side wings. Now that they're welded and bobbed, the overall bumper looks 10x better.

The bumper looks good.

Wabfab did a good job on modifing it.

Thanks. They did do a great job. At least 30+ hours of work poured into it.

Nice. I thought about getting my roll bar color matched too, just decided against it last minute. Be sure to post pics up when you get yours in...color matched or not.

Thanks.

if feel really bad smacking that pretty paint on rocks and a few tree's none the less looks great

No worries. I try to stay out of the rocks and trees these days...I've scratched up too many vehicles along the way when I didn't care what I hit.

I baby this ride. I'm saving up for a dedicated wheeler though...
