Modifying skid (for oil filter access) before researching a new one

Has anyone cut the front skid for a V8 4Runner to easily access the oil filter? I am getting really tired to wrestling that piece back in place. It must be a bit warped and lining up the bolts with the holes is a workout I'd rather avoid.

I could buy a new skid but I really don't want to. Are there any that allow filter access? I am not offroading much (nothing but dirt roads and mild trails) with it, so I don't want to buy a new skid if I can help it. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Buy a v6? Some offroad skids have access but the cost is high. I know my moms 4.7 sequoia is running around with no skid up front

Nah, I really don't want the V6. Plus, it would be way more expensive a transaction that buying an aftermarket skid. Which are the skids that do allow access- anyone know? I know all about Jeeps now...have not kept up with the 4Runner offroad angle since around when Overland closed shop.

My RCI front skid allows for oil filter access without removal.

8 bolts? really? I use a socket to break the bolts loose, all 8. then i use a socket adapter on my cordless drill and buzz them off. so it takes all of 90 seconds to get all 8 of them off.

thats just me...its not that big of a deal. run synthetic oil and up the oil change interval so you have to change it less often
