Mods for a 07 4Runner

Recently bought a 2007 4Runner SR5 V6 4L with all standard stuff, wondering what, if any, mods that might be recommended to make it run/look/feel/drive better?

This is my first 4Runner and I have a lot to learn!

Well what direction are you looking to go with your 4Runner?

I recommend a lift, tires, exhaust to start things off but it is all personal preference.

Start reading, there's a ton of information on the forum. It really depends on what you want to do. First thing I did was a leveling kit and new tires. This site has quite a few popular mods on it, I would start with that and then search the forum for more info on the things you are interested in. Good luck.

First thing I did was tint my windows, great way to change the look of the vehicle.... Then definitely look into some sort of lift and tires. Lots of options for lifts, whether your looking for just looks or to offroad.

A lot of people seem to like changing the stock coils for FJ cruiser coils, you can usually pick them up for around $100 (or free) and they give about an inch or so of lift in front (to level the truck) and provide a MUCH smoother ride than the 4runner coils; they take the "boat" feeling away.

Mods

I have the exact same truck. So far I have done the following:

1. OME kit with 3" lift
2. Toytec Diff drop
3. Black powdercoated TRD 16" wheels
4. Michelin 285/75/16 AT2 tires
5. LED interior.
6. MTEC HID headlight kit

I have the full leather interior, but that will be the last thing I install. Plus with a 3 year old, no sense buggering it up so quickly.

On order (since June 2010), and should be ready in a month or so.

It would be a daily driver. I've been thinking about lifting it and getting LED lighting because that makes it look really awesome. Still not sure what else though!

I've got an 07 and I have just started doing mods. I did sound system, window tint, tires, emblems, and right now I'm painting my front grille.

Over the next couple of weekends I'll black out my lights and then try the DIY LED swap for my cluster, HVAC, and all interior lights.

I like doing mods that change the look, not necessarily performance. But again, it all comes down to personal preference.

start off with a 2 1/2 front 1 1/2 rear spacers and get some all terrain larger than factory tires. this will change the looks drastically. theres tons of posts on what size tires people are using for this setup.. You could look at tinting the windows and maybe blacking out the headlights. keep in mind not actually painting the headlight itself but the chrome inside the headlight. there's posts on that as well. If you stay on here too long you will never run out of ideas and money to spend on your 4runner.

Where in washington are you located? There's a handful of 4th gens around the seattle area with good variety of mods that you can take a look at in person.

Lift, tires, wheels, LED interior/exterior, HID's (a must!), window tint...

Soundproofing is another great mod if you want to make the cabin quieter and improve your sound system.

A great free mod is removing the granny steps.

I also recommend switching your chrome grill for a color keyed grill.

The "slow" suspension on the 4runner has been referred to by other users as having the same feeling as driving a boat; Slow and moderately unresponsive. Its great for being a people carrier, but you if plan on doing any offroading, you'll want to change the suspension. preferably with FJ suspension IMO

You've gotten some great responses on here from some very experienced people. One of the best sources of info is build threads from members and 4ROTMs. Many people have carefully documented what they have done and you can watch how they have evolved along with what they want out of the vehicle. Also really pay attention to your vehicle and figure out what you want to do with it. Try some light offroading and I'm sure the mod fever will set in .
