Mojave (or other) pinstripes! What are you doing?

pinstriping avoidance...

I've thought about this too. Originally I wanted to vinyl wrap the whole car but that was quoted at $5000 - $6000 across 3 vendors. Ouch. But after I did the Mojave, the pinstriping was even more "Ouch". Permanent deep scratches.

The other idea I had was partial vinyl on the sides. I was thinking about maybe doing a black stripe design; a nod to the 80's Yota Pickups that I could apply myself and save some money. I did a quick photoshop of the idea here but would likely want to go bigger to cover more surface area for greater protection. I think I'll give this a try.

Magnet sheets could be cool! Easy to take on and off. Anyone doing that? Anyone make those?

I just look at them and shake my head. Some are so deep that even paint correction couldn't do much without paint touch up.

I had plans on paint correction+ceramic coating but the scratches are so deep. I have a black runner so the striping is more prominent.

If you're going to take it off road, these are inevitable. Don't do any paint correction unless you're going to never take it off road again or protect it somehow.

Agreed. Mojave wasn't too bad for me. It was actually the Main Divide Truck Trail that got me bone deep. OP: The stripes are a badge of honor. Shows we aren't mall crawlers, at least not all the time. ;-)

As mine is less than 2 weeks old while I understand about the whole 'badge of honor' thing I would like to keep it looking as nice as possible for a while at least. Anybody have any experience with temporary guards for the doors at least?
