At that time i was sitting outside waiting on my neighbor to come help me put it on the truck and watching our kids/6 other kids play in the circle. I jope to get some better pics after my son's baseball game tomorrow.

How did you guys like Dixie Fish Company? We went one night and i was kind of disappointed. The head chef is supposedly from New Orleans but mine was very bland

Right now they are tapped into the reverse lights. [MENTION=50591]gaterose[/MENTION] is going to help me wire them where they will come on with the reverse lights as well as having the ability to turn them on by themselves.

Drop the driver side under dash.
On the bottom left of the fuse box you will see a red wire with a yellow trace. That is 12volt trigger for reverse light. It's in a 16 pin plug.

Several ways to do it. Get a double pole double throw relay
30 is power source
86 is 12 volt coming from reverse
87 is going out to the lights
85 is ground

That will give you a power source to rub the lights.

Now here is the fun stuff.
How to turn on with out turning on the reverse lights and back feeding power to the transmission! And possiblely messing up the trans?

Simple, two 3 amp does you buy from radio Shack. Yes that simple.

Here is a quick diagram i drew up using the diodes. Make sure the band on the diode is in the correct side. the band prevents power from flowing back into the other side back up into the reverse circiut in the car. Its simple once you grasp the concept of what a diode does. cool thing is if you flip the diodes around and use it in a negative circuit it will block ground from flowing back!

on a toyota, most toyotas. its all right there at the fuse box for 95% of the connections.

everything is there, your reverse, your power source(fuse it of course) and add a relay and two diodes you done. its easy for me since i do it all the time but stop me and ask questions if i move to fast for you

Little pricey and not that great. We just wanted to try it out. Not sure I will go back. If I had my choice and a fat wallet I would rather go eat at Hot and Hot fish club.

I agree. I originally thought it would fit somewhere between The Fish Market and Joe's Crab Shack, being a little more towards The Fish Market. To me it was basically another Joe's Crab Shack with Fish Market prices....I won't be going back.

Hot & Hot is really good too. Have you guys ever tried Ocean, in Five Points or Fox Valley in Helena?

It was crazy yesterday so i went to the place on Caldwell Mill, close to Heatherwood, where they are working on that new neighborhood and took some pics. I was in such a rush to get to the store and back for supper the pics didn't turn out that great. I will try to get some this week. Hopefully i will get my fairing finished up first.

Whitson Metalworks Rack completed and Installed.

Before I get into the write up, I want to say that I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Josh's ( [MENTION=77764]Whitson Metalworks[/MENTION] ) father today. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

I finally got the chance to finish up the fairing and get some pics. Yes there will be some duplicate pics from earlier posts but i wanted to have them all in one write up.

When Josh and i first started tossing ideas back and forth on the rack we both decided on a more low profile rack than he had been producing. I like the looks of the double row led light bars but was wanting to try and go a little more low profile with it, so i ended up ordering the 40" Single Row led bar from Exploration Outfitters.

I also ordered an extra pair of mounting feet so i would have four total on the rack. They have excellent customer service, so i highly recommend them for any needs.

When i received the light, i turned around and shipped it to Josh so he could make adjustments to the height of the rack. The height of the rack was lowered by about 1/2" from the previous versions of his rack. Below are the teaser pics he had sent me.....it was turning out better than expected.







The night before Josh was coming through town with the rack i removed the stock rack and felt like a kid on Christmas Eve. Below is the scalped truck waiting....


Just like Christmas morning.....The first good look at the rack after pulling it out of the trailer.


Then we did some test fitting. It was dead on....:thumb:




It was a little warm so we pulled it in the garage to test fit the light bar. Again, it was dead on.




After pulling it back off the truck i was ready to get it prepped and painted. Before that started i took a couple shots of the craftsmanship and finish on the rack. I guess i had an idea that it would be in some sort of rusty condition but it was in almost perfect condition.

Time to get busy. I decided to paint it rather than powder coating for two reasons. I didn't really have the funds to have it PC'd and i didn't feel like waiting. Plus i have done pretty good painting other items, so i figured i didn't have anything to lose. My plan was to first go over the entire rack with Scotchbrite pads and steel brushes. This would remove what little rust there was, but also help with any surface grease. After that i completely wiped down the rack with Denatured Alcohol to remove the final bits of grit and grease. Then hit it with a few coats of Self Etching primer, for good adhesion of the paint. And finally finish it off with Satin Black.

It was finally time to see it on the truck. The pics are much lighter than it actually was but i couldn't wait till the next day to get it on the truck.






I probably walked back outside a dozen times looking at it that night. I turned out much better than i imagined. The next day was pretty hectic so i didn't have a lot of time to take shots, but luckily some of them turned out pretty cool. These are pics of the rack without the wind fairing on the front.








As if my back wasn't already hurting before the prep and painting, it was really hurting afterwards so it took a little while to get on the fairing part of the project. Luckily I still had my old Yakima fairing sitting in my storage closet. As you can see i had changed the Yakima logo for my old car....lol. Because the rack has a support gusset in the middle of the front, i couldn't center a bracket. I ended up making a fourth bracket for some extra support.

I got lucky on a cool spot downtown. I am really please with the results of the pics and even more so with the rack.

The only things left to do is to wrap the fairing with some black vinyl to cover the scratches and for [MENTION=50591]gaterose[/MENTION] to help me with the wiring.

I can't say enough about this rack. The craftsmanship is great and the customer service is even better. Thanks Josh! Keep your head up!

Mines starting to get less and less. Going to polish and re-seal soon. Its been 6 months though and i wash mine more than anyone ever should. I got a new sealant im trying out as well.

Thanks man. I have always liked using rattle cans, so it just worked out good. You should look into the racks. They are half the price of the Gobi racks and probably built even better.
