Money solves everything in College Football

The University of Alabama buys a coach for 35 million dollars!!! Former LSU and Dolpins coach Nick Sabin...

So does this mean that the tuition will be going up?

I know there are some dolphin fans on here that want to comment... (or not)

Being a legacy (Dad, Brother, Sister) and an alumni of Alabama I will never send any of my children there... what a joke!!!

35 million, that just rings in my ears... Imagine what could be done with 35 million.

Saban is a waffle! He couldnt cut it working for one of the finer NFL orgs and with a very supportive owner. He left out of fear of continued failure. That said, 'Bama has struggled over the last few years and it is mostly the result of overzealous boosters and Bear Bryants son placing a stranglehold on the program. Sabin is a good fit. He'll have control and will be back in the elite level of coaches instead of being relegated to mediocracy in the NFL. The athletic department is going to have to figure out how to cover this 4 Mil/year contract because it comes out of their budget and not from the academic budget. Figure on higher prices for tickets, luxury boxes etc and for 'Bama to merchandise everything imaginable. I hope he falls flat on his face.
 
Bama could pay their coach $35 Billion and they'll still lose to the Gators - the soon to be National Champions :cool:
 
Hey now, Bama beat Florida two years ago in Tuscaloosa, that was a heck of a game, and an embarrassment to Florida!!! Once Florida gets rid of Leak (graduates) and Florida puts Tebo in the game Florida will be hard to stop, but I am an SEC fan as well, so I am cheering for Florida to win... I think they will beat the crap out of Ohio State, just like LSU beat the crap out of ND...

Gators will "shock and awe" the poor Buckeyes tonight :D I think Florida will be the first school to be reigning National Champions in both basketball and football at the same time :)
 
Yeah, it is pretty pathetic what college football has come to. I understand that football is a way of life here in the south, but I feel like it has overstepped it bounds here. It really made me sick when I heard that Coach Probst with the Hoover Bucs, that 2-a-days show on MTV, makes 92 per year and doesn't even teach anything. He is just football coach at a public school....Back to Saban....I think he is a really good coach.......excuse me......College coach, but don't think he fully realizes the situation he is putting himself in at UA. They might have sugar coated everything by telling him he would have full control......we will see about this. I think he will be there a coupld of seasons, then the board and fans will be enough to drive him to an early retirement........

Yep, I am pulling for Florida tonight. I was just glad we beat them this year......lol:biggrin2:
 
You are an Auburn fan aren't you? Thats OK, my wife is an Auburn fan that went to Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt doesn't really have a football team so she went with Auburn...

Its halftime and I remembered this thread. Shock and Awe is right! I wouldnt want to be in the OSU locker room right now.
 
The game is not even over and Florida is pounding Ohio, 41 to 14...oh my gawd!!! How embarrassing. See what happens when you play only two top ten teams the whole year and high school teams the rest of the season. Turns out you're not as good as you think you are

I agree, we need a playoff system. 50 days off is way too long for any team, even OSU. The last time they played in the Championship game, they smacked Miami in the mouth. They came to play. Here we are Jan 8 and its finally over. Meanwhile for 50 days we get to watch the Capital one Chick Fil A Adidas Sugar Peach bowl sponsored by the Pontiac Lemon and Flomax. Oops cant forget the REmax pregame show brought to you by Krispy Kreme and Pepto Bismol.

They should finish the regular season by thanksgiving, have playoffs thru xmas and the finals on new years day.

Division 1AA has playoffs and year after year the games are competitive. It CAN be done.

Ohio State was out played tonight by the Gators however saying that they play high school teams all season shows ignorance on your part. They buckeyes played hard all season and deserved their spot at the championship game even if they fell short. Good job gators, you did well and ohio state had a hard time. I just don't like the idea of people saying that they didn't deserve to be there.

Rereading your thread made me even more sick at the ignorance of some people. Troy smith deserved the trophy... If you think the big 10 is a cake walk I recommend taking some time to see how well you think other teams would really do in it...

all i can say is GO BUCKS! Good Luck in basketball this season!

Northern Illinois-who?
Texas-over rated
Cincinnati- please
Penn State-maybe some feeling between the knees
Iowa-Texas beat them barely, no biggie
Bowling Green, is that a high school team?
Michigan state- another one
Indiana-they have a football program?
Minnesota-another high school team
The republic of Illinois - played by the second string
Northwestern - third string
and finally Michigan - good team, crushed by USC, and over rated
(only two top 10 teams by my count)
lets not forget the 50 plus days off to prepare!!!

Florida's schedule was not that much better, (played 5 top ten teams) but to say ignorance, irwin come on. I say truth! And the truth has a powerful sting to it, believe me I have felt it...

All I want is a playoff system...

but no matter I am disgusted at the whole game of College football...

Money doesn't solve everything in collegiate football. Winning has its place also especially in the tough SEC (Southeastern Conference).

Just ask the 2007 national champions the Florida Gators and the 2003 national champions the LSU fighting Tigers!

Big Ten who? Ohio what? beat the Gators when? and where?

The Florida Gators (41-14 pounding in Fiesta bowl) kept "moving forward" into the end zone on the Ohio state Buckeyes! Congrats to the Gators and the Tigers (42-21 over Notre Dame in Sugar Bowl) on their blowouts!
 
Hey Fro-Runner....Amen, SEC is a great conference. I am glad that LSU won their game too. I wish Alabama would have won their game as well as Arkansas, oh well, Alabama sucks right now and I am OK with that.
