Moog cc255 Rear Coils

Hi all, wondering if moog cc255 would be a good replacement coil springs for a saggie rear 95 T4R. I'll surf through forums and learn that Downey or OMU is the best way to go, but I can get only Moog in my area (Canada)-How do Moog match up to (downey,omu or toyota coils)

I dont know alot about the coils in my truck because the guy put them in before i bought it, but i think they are eibach, which you can get in canada from a speciatly parts store, where are you from in canada? (province, city, town etc....)
 
I would highly suggest the Moog coils, I just had them installed in my 95 4runner. Returned the rear to factory hieght. It might be just because I know they were replaced but ride and handling seems improved. I'll post some pics as soon as I can!
 
i've had a lot of luck with my h&r's... they come with a bracket to move the brake shit up 2". good ride, take a load well too.
 
I put the moogs on mine. they are cheap and i love the ride. Still no sag after a year.
search "sagging" on this forum for more info.

So you'd recommend H&R ? What about KYB shocks to go with it?
I'm not trying to put too much money into this vehicle since I just bought it dirt cheap a few weeks ago.

It does have the sagging butt syndrome and contemplating on spending $60 on rear Moogs or $180 on a set of H&R. I figure while I'm at it, I should replace the shocks since the car has 191k miles on factory ones.

I don't know if i should get cheapos (Monroe or Gabriels ~ $60 set) or KYB ($160 set).

This is my daily commute car in the city and going to our lakehouse (which has paved roads). I don't plan on doing any offroading. That's why I'm debating on cheapos springs and shocks.

Any thoughts?
 
just did the cc255 moog replacement springs on my 95 4runner. Lifted the back end up abit, looks better then before...I still notice my front is higher...May be because the tosion bars are cranked up, not sure though. I only payed $50 bucks for the springs and bought the guys at the shop down the street lunch so they put them in for free. (or cost of lunch). Looking back I should have done new shocks at the same time but no biggy...lunch will be on me again next week.
 
I been read alot about replacing the coils springs, Moog's is a good replacment spring. I'll going to try Downey coil springs-if I can get them in Canada. Can anyone tell me if Downey's are available in Canada or should I call Downey's (USA) to see if they ship here.
 
So should I replace the fronts springs too while I'm at it?

My 4runner has 191k miles on stock suspension..I just ordered some Gabriel's shock (front & rears) and I'm contemplating getting the moog CC255 rear coil but was wondering if I need to replace the front coils too?

Would it be detrimental to the car's overall ride if I mixed and match springs from different manufacturer?
For example, could I get Moogs cc255 for the rear and leave the front factory...or should I go with a set (like H&R) which has been engineered for that model?

Again, I can't really tell how long (fronts) springs are suppose to last on a 4runner...

The front springs seem to last. Normally, springs last the lifetime of a car. The problem of the rear spring sag on our Runner's is an anomally. The front springs normally hold up fine.

My advice is to leave the stock front springs in and just get the Moogs for the rear. The Moog spring is sort of an approximation of what the stock spring should have been... same length (height) but a bit stronger.

Moog coils looking pretty bad on a minor incline. In general these coils help with apperance, but catch them at the wrong angle and it's all back to sagg factory

Hi all, I just install the new moog coils. It raise the back up a small bit but not whole lot (should went with downey or OMU 1 1/2 lift). So anyone want a good raise,go with DOW/OMU. I going to sell my old OME coils, contact me if you want them or check ebay for my auction.

First post here. Figured bringing this thread back to life was a good place to say my first howdy since this was the issue that brought me here.

Howdy.

My 93 4Runner has this saggy rear problem, while I use this a daily driver of sorts I am finally giving these coils some much needed attention. Picked up these Moog CC255 from Amazon for $60 shipped with Prime. They came coiled around each other in the box and messed up some of the black poly coating. I just so happened to have a can of yellow spray paint and decided to give them a make over.

I currently have a about a 3" difference from the front and the rear so these "should" level me out. More so then the Red Runner above I hope.

And yes, I replaced the rear shocks under a year ago when I had a tire blow out and wrap around the old shock.

I'll post before and afters once I get to installing them, should be soon if I can find a shop for cheap, otherwise I gotta wait a bit for a buddy to clean out his garage I usually work in.

Success! Installed these bad boys yesterday, took a little over an hour. Mainly because we were also watching Alabama lose, LOL. My friend's TV and beer fridge in the garage is an awesome combo.

Rented a pain in the ass strut compressor set from AutoZone for a fully refundable $53 (its all they had). Took chunks of the fancy yellow paint off but whatevs.

Basically just jacked the truck up, took the wheel off, detached the bottom of the shock and adjusted the compressors to fit the best way. Didn't want to take to much apart so the compressors weren't on both sides of the spring equally, maybe like thirds. Made it a ***** but got it done. Only real tip I have is to watch out for the brake lines on the axle, the center bolt from the compressors put some nicks in it but with out paying attention we could have pinched it.

There is a noticeable difference in leveling, but I think it still looks about an inch or so short of where it should be. Handling wise, a few gains. High speed turns feel tighter and the nose doesn't dive nearly as much as it did at fast stops. I'd say this was an over all win and worth it.

1st photo is before.

2nd photo is just a side by side comparison of the Moog and Factory. Factory was lighter in weight as well as shorter like most have said.

3rd photo is after. Didn't get out quite as early as I wanted and missed the good sun angle, but I think it shows an improvement although not perfect.

I hope this helps some of you with this saggy rear problem make some decisions. Thanks for reading and let me know what you think!



 
The stance looks a lot better. I have gathered that the Moog coils restore some height but not all. They are cheap though, so that is a plus. I'm probably selling mine for a 3rd gen otherwise I would go for the moogs.
