Moon Roof / Sun roof

You can get one installed aftermarket. For how much, I don't know. I wouldn't recommend it though, since cars with a sunroof from factory have different roofs than tose without. There are built in water drain systems on cars with factory sunroofs that can't be added aftermarket, I believe. I believe its been discussed on this forum, so a search may bring up the pros and cons to aftermarket sunroofs..

It was my understanding that ALL sunroofs were installed after arrival through the Jacksonville, FL port. I used to have a 2000 model and when ordering, the dealer told me that this was due to the additional taxes that would be required if the roof was punched prior. With a grain of salt.....
I would guess $1200 might put one in but let your fingers do the walking and check your local yellow pages.

I've got an aftermarket moonroof that the dealer had installed for me as they didn't have a 4R with a moonroof when I was buying (and i needed a new one ASAP). They would have charged $1200 for it (normal price for customers) but I got them to work it down as it was part of the deal of the vehicle originally.
I would definitely not recommend it though. There are two major reasons...actually could be three depending on how anal you want to be (and i can be anal with these things).
1) They cannot replace the headliner with a new custom one that fits the moonroof. They instead wrap the original headliner with a new cloth and in my case did not glue it down in all places. They wrapped and glued it on all edges and contact points. There are many areas that I can push at least 1.5" until it reaches the original headliner/roof. I was told by the owner of the company who did the install of the moonroof there is nothing they can do that they hadn't done already. It will sag eventually and there is nothing I can do about it other than wait for it to happen and call them for warranty service (it has a warranty for my entire ownership of the vehicle).
2) There is no dampener as there is on a stock moonroof. The dampener is a bar that when the moonroof is open will actively adjust based upon your speed of driving (reduces the audibal wind vibrating effect - i forget the real name for it but that is a decent description that someone will probably respond to with the real name). Mine has a dampener however it is permanently installed and does not move at all and thus this noise is always there when the moonroof is open.
3) Talk to them about where your controls are placed. I assumed they would install the controls where the Toyota controls are normally installed (between the two front roof passenger lights). Instead, they installed them BEHIND that panel. So it is directly on the headliner area not where I'd assume it should be.
Make sure you get information on which unit they are putting in, what features it comes with and how they plan on installing it, in detail. I am very anal with it as I drive alot and now I have a moonroof that I will barely use (other than letting more light in).
Sorry if I sound really unhappy with it. I really am not and am very happy I have it. I just think they could have done a better job with the installation and thought put into placement of things.

I agree with the above analysis on having an aftermarket moonroof installed. I had worked out a deal for a silver 2004 Sport Edition 4X4 V6 which did NOT have a moonroof. The dealership was going to have an aftermarket moonroof installed for $900 but I got wobbly knees before they could schedule to get it done. I've heard all of the "LEAKER" stories pertaining to aftermarket sun/moonroofs.
I ended up purchasing a Gray SR5 4X4 with a factory moonroof. I was thinking the same thing as the gentleman in the previous post in that I would NOT have the same control buttons, headliner, and factory 36 month or longer warranty. I didn't want to take chances on a $30K vehicle by having a wet floor carpet after rainstorms!
