well, I had the TSB done on the moonroof a few weeks ago (they replaced everything but the glass) and I've used the roof maybe a dozen times before it stuck open...WTF....gotta schedule an appointment to get it fixed again....

Yup, these sunroofs have to be the weakest links on the 4Runner. I'm glad I got the extended warranty as the sunroof breaking will pay for it...

I've had my sunroof stuck episode one a few thousand miles ago and I'm crossing my fingers that will be it...

Makes me glad I never use my sunroof when I hear stories like this. I just hope that when the time comes to sell the 4R and the prospective owner tries the sun roof, isn't when it decides to stick open. :D

I just had my sunroof repaired on my 2005 Ltd 4runner. They replaced the plastic cable that pulls and pushes the roof. The plastic got brittle due to heat and wet weather. Toyota upgraded this cable to a tough steel cable version. I didn't pay for anything as my truck is still under warranty (less than 36k miles). The repair guy, a young Japanese Toyota engineer sent by Toyota HQ here to learn about common US problems with Toyota cars, said that the weakest part of past 4runners is the cabling for the sunroof.
