More Front Lift

I've had the LC coils in the rear and Bilsteins on the highest setting with the 1/4 inch top plate spacers for a few months now and it just has too much rake. My truck has over 230k miles so I'm thinking that the front springs may just be sagging pretty bad. But here's the question, can I run a set of 3" lift coils with the top plate spacers to even it out some up front? I have a diff drop that needs to be put on anyway, and I figure I only offroad once or twice a month so CV axles aren't going to get worn out that quick. My main concern is pogo and balljoint contact or failure. Thoughts?

I'm sure other can chime in but if you install the diff drop I think you'll be okay. Might not be a bad idea to run the new coils without them first though. Just the coils without spacers should net you about 2.5" more left than you have now. If still too much rake you could always try the spacers again later.

You are more than likely going to be ripping cv boots just because of the extreme ange, regardless if you rarely offroad or have a diff drop kit. You should probably look into getting some upgraded boots, or doing the boot stretch mod so they dont rip on you.

I lifted my 99' with the adjustable bilsteins and toytec coils and i ripped my boots the day or two after with the difff drop installed. Your boots are brittle and unless they are brand new they will end up cracking within a week or so. I have a new set of cv's to install but I'm sure they will tear quicker because of the more extreme angle due to the lift.

How will putting 3" coils on give me that much more than I have now? Assuming I put the bilsteins back to stock height settings.

Ok first off the CV's spin all the time wether in 2wd or 4wd with our ADD differential, so the wear is still present on the boots. Also with LC coils you will have rake since they provide 4" of lift on average is not more. Yes you can crank the adjustable bilsteins from All-Pro or Toytec up to almost 4" but anything over 3" and you are asking for failure and a cruddy ride. Even with a diff drop the recommended lift is 2.75" for our front end. Now my LC coils have sagged or settled a lot but I also have a lot of weight in the back at all times especially when I wheel(all spares, parts, fluids, tools). My suggestions is throw some weight in back and it will settle a little more quickly.

^^^Pretty much what pikeman said. In addition to that, you only have one option to get more ride height out of the front than what's already there, but that would be a drop bracket lift and that is 1 step forward and 2 steps back because you lose ground clearance in the front.

Pretty much gonna have to live with it or change out your rear coils with something shorter. Or load the sh!t out of the cargo area and wait for it to settle a bit.

Thanks guys. I may have to throw some more stuff back there. I've got 2 toolboxes and 2 12's already, but a couple bags of quikcrete may have to find their way back there.

I have allpro coil-overs and upper control arms in the front, along with LC coils in the rear (out of a 91 JDM Landcrusier, not sure which wrap). I have the front coil-overs basically maxed and before I put my CBI rear bumper on with 33" spare on the back had a fair amount of rake. With the weight of the bumper the truck leveled itself out pretty nicely. The problem is, with the front coil-overs maxed I don't have very much downtravel and the ride isn't the greatest. It has settled quite a bit and gotten better, but I still slam pretty hard if I hit speedbumps or something alike too fast. I'm waiting to see what my front bumper (ODL) and 95lbs winch will do to the front coils and height. Personally for me, as long as I'm not rubbing too bad in the front, I would rather a littler rake than the a harsh ride with no downtravel, so I may be dropping the coil-overs soon.

You didn't say you were putting the Bilsteins back down to stock height. I was just going off of replacing stock, saggy springs with new 3" springs. The 1/4" spacer actually nets .5" of lift so 3" springs - .5" lift from the spacer =2.5" of lift.
