More Trouble for Toyota/Lexus!

As you know, Toyota/Lexus has been in the spotlight recently due to the
sticky gas pedal problems. Most of Toyota's popular models and some Lexus
models (including the Lexus ES and IS sedans) have been affected by these
problems.

Now there are also problems with the brakes on the latest Priuses:

There is also a possible software glitch in the cruise control of the
Priuses:

So I think you need to think twice about buying a Toyota or even a Lexus at
this point.....However, I believe there will be some great incentives in
the coming months from Toyota to spur sales again, so it's likely that you
will get some great deals on new Toyota/Lexus vehicles.

Basically, when it rains, it pours! Years of overconfidence and cost cutting is catching up to Toyota. :(

On a semi-related note, my brother tells me that Honda still has not excised the transmission demons! His 2009 Honda Ody just got a recall to update its transmission software to minimize the droning noise / shudder with light acceleration in the 20 -45 mph range. However, this recall did not really fix the problem entirely...and he is scheduled to get his torque converter replaced under warranty next week! :(

Boy, all of these problems make me want to buy a Kia!
 
Gimme a break....this is all just paranoia.

Now people are just trying to pick apart their vehicle looking for something that's not there. "Brakes not as sharp"? Oh please....every drive ANY car on a cold morning? I can guarantee the brakes won't feel "as sharp".

Next thing you know people will start complaining that all of the sudden their tires are grippy enough....
 
I am starting to believe this is a complot or something against Toyota for being the top brand in the US ..How come no other countries as far as I know are complaining about this matter?....they are trying to make people run and go buy the american cars. AS simple as that!

Other country's Toyotas already had this partr in place and the problems seem to only be in North America.
 
Why the exageration?

as if something has to be in the spotlight or someone has to absorb the media attention. last month, it was tiger woods now toyota, why the diversion?
With all those troubles, I will still drive my Toyota to work where our hours are cut plus the worries of losing job. I will still drive my Toyota to school where my childs drawing class don't get budget from the gov't anymore. So, why not focus if this economy improves..lets help press the economic accelerator hard.

You guys need to read the links more carefully...at least in the Prius brake issue, it is NOT isolated to the US.

I am pretty sure that the government has already done something like seven official investigations recently into unintended acceleration, which included the electronic systems.

It feels like there is a witch hunt going on against Toyota.

I am sure Ford felt the same way when Explorers were rolling on the highways....suck it up and deal with it. I think that there is something wrong here and that this is just not a conspiracy against Toyota. Has it been overblown? Sure, what hasn't in this day and age! However, there is ALWAYS some truth to these overblown issues.
 
Lets see, GM is owned by the Feds and UAW, UAW owns the feds, including Ray LaHood......could they use Toyota's problems? Think it was Rahm Emanuel who advises not to let a perfectly good crisis go to waste.

People have died as a result of this problem.

IT IS NOT PARANOIA.

How well or fast Toyota recovers will depend on what the real problem is and how Toyota responds to it.

The pedal recall is not in the US only. Cars in Europe and China are also on the list.

It's not a consipracy against Toyota, but simply the bigger you are, the harder you fall. Especially after spending a decade trying to be like GM and cutting corners.

But as it seems, the historically reliable brands (Toyota and Honda) are having their fair share of problems. I guess statisticians would love this, can't escape probability.

Whatever it is, this Prius brake problem is REAL! My brother's '10 Prius does have this problem and is reproducible too! Here is an update with Toyota ADMITTING that there is a problem: Toyota says Prius had brake design problems - Yahoo! News

Before you guys jump the gun and make up a big conspiracy theory, maybe you guys need to read the facts. I like Toyota, but lets not forget that it too has screwed many people over and over again, just like the other car manufacturers.

:iagree: 100%. I do like Toyota and do hope my next vehicle WILL BE a Toyota. But I cannot ignore the fact that they're major having problems and have not been completely upfront about it. I don't want to take chances dealing with issues that a Toyota is not suppose to have and waste 10's of thousands of dollars on a headache. If I wanted that, I would've bought something other than a Toyota a few years ago.
