Could you do this with a 2wd? My brother is in Vegas and doesn't have 4wd.

Since we just had some wicked rains earlier this week the road has likely changed some. Above 6-7K ft you're likely to encounter snow that may or may not be iced up from previous 4x4 groups, as it's a popular run around here.

I did the first half from the Corn Creek check-in station (west side) up to the campground in the pines that's a little over half way without real need for 4x4. I think I put it in 4H for some jackassery in the snow, but it wasn't bad. The road east from the campground down to 93 had a few wash crossings that may be suspect after the rains.

I probably should've asked what kind of 2wd he has... Anyway, this is just my 2 cents, definitely not an expert by any stretch. Nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!

You could in the summer time if you use patience and even better if yo have a descent tire. My son drives a 2wd pre-runner project and has no issues. He is running 33" tires and airs down to about 20psi and has no problems.

Ive been up there when the snow was so deep we were pushing it over our grills causing us to lose all forward momentum. This was years ago before the BLM put restrooms and tables up top for people to hang out. The road to Alamo is a fun road too. It takes you right along the Nevada Test range. If you get lucky, you can get a glimpse of our nations finest flying around out there.
