Thanks to the Archangle AA9130 Drop in Stock..

I had a couple Nagants in my safe, and every time I open it i consider throwing it away (not really). then I happened onto a post about the Archangle stock and I had to try it.

So I robbed the scope and bi-pod off of my 30-06 and ordered the stock and 11mm dovetail scope mount.

Sure, its still a Mosin and sure i now have $350 in a $99 rifle. BUT. I can get 7.62x54 for $84 shipped for 440 rounds. so it makes it way cheaper to shoot than most of my other rifles. not to mention the ten foot barrel and the fact that both of my nagants are pre-war (the machining is far better) this thing should make one heck of a sniper rifle.

I like it enough I am going to build a second one with i higher mount scope and take 11" off the barrel. it may replace my 30/30 winchester for hunting.

This is the first Archangel line I have purchased. There are so many options for the 10/22 its hard to pick a favorite.

I've seen people have variable success with the replacement rifle chassis, the problems being mostly that the chassis starts to loosen up with use and results in terrible groupings.

Have you actually had a chance to test it out?

I have had my Mosin Carbine forever and love it, don't think I would ever trade in the wood stock....

the Archangel looks sweet though.

It is 1932 Tula with hex receiver and matching numbers, obviously another picture is shooting result at 100 yards with white box Winchester 180 Grn SP; not bad for 1891 design rifle… that is still in use in some countries;

I will go sight this scope in in a week or two, I will try to cycle enough rounds to see if my group breaks up.

All of my Mosins are per war, so they are in great shape, and I hand picked them. That stock is the one I was going to go with, but I'm glad I went this route now (so far). I see you changed the bolt handle, what one is that?

My 15 year old son loves his MN, old rustic and does the job.

Got his from a girl who did not like the kick. Paid 60 bucks for it.

Cheap ammo and dead nuts with iron sights.

^^^^ Agreed with above. The gun is shooting almost MOA just in that picture. When you think about when this firearm was made and the group it shoots that is pretty good. Glad to see someone giving it a new lease on life.

Ordered parts for the second one today....going with desert tan, 10rnd mag, 11" barrel chop, ATI bipod, sight to scope adapter (instead of the 11mm dovetail), and scope TBA.

Big question is, do I buy another MN for this build or use my pristine 1937...? I hate to cut up such a prime example... It's nothing special other than pre war, perhaps I wait until the next gun show and buy one with damaged furniture.

I know it not (or ever going to be) a rare gun, and it's not one of my 30/30s...but she is in REALLY good shape.. It still a piece of history...

This is ATI bolt; I have purchased ATI bolt and ATI scope mount combo. Scope mount was also reinforced with third mounting point on the back;

Work (turning bolt and drill\tap receiver) was done by my friend who is a machinist as well as gun enthusiast; I would no go this route if I would not have him to do the job right;

I specifically wanted that stock because it leaves the original magazine in place; to me the shape of that magazine is the main “signature” feature of Mosin rifle… and since this rifle represents sentimental value to me personally I wanted to retain that unique look.

I appreciate the comment, but if you are referring to the picture of the target posted by me than I have a small correction to add: it is not almost MOA it is MOA;
I also agree that it is very good result , not only considering the age and design year of the rifle, but also that this was shot with non-match factory loads and very heavy factory trigger;

New archangel stock and scope shipped today. I should have everything this week.

I have an idea, I was wondering if anyone knows the OD of a Russian AK47 barrel at the muzzle. I think when I cut this second Nagant down, I am going to thread the barrel and put an AK flash suppressor/hider on it. But I need to know the OD so I can see where I would need to cut the Nagant tapered barrel to allow for enough threading.

I will document the build if anyone is interested.
