Most comfortable all season 31" tire?

What are the most comfortable 31" all season tires that will most likely see 99% highway miles and maybe 1% light trails? I'm most concerned about having a soft ride and highway noise.

If you make sure to get passenger tires (P), that will take care of 98% of what you need to consider since comfort is mostly due to inflation pressure and passenger tires can be safely run at lower pressure than Light Truck tires (LT).

Since Tire Rack makes this harder than it needs to be by choosing to omit the P or LT prefix from the tire size listings, I'd suggest buying elsewhere. If you use the site for research, you can determine a P tire by looking for info in the UTQG column on the specs page. LTs will have "none" for an entry.

Any cons of a 30" tire besides ground clearance?

Assuming the same width, the most obvious con is somewhat abstract. Smaller tires have less load carrying capacity which means you'd be shrinking the load reserve safety margin of the OE tires. To get the same load carrying capacity, you'd have to increase pressure and that takes you in a different direction from your comfort goal. On the other hand, if you're sticking to the pavement, the lower ground clearance (center of gravity) could be considered a plus.

I was very happy with these tires and if I were looking for a all season light truck tire this would be it. I'm sure others will chime in with there experiences as well but Mine were 265/70/16 I think you can get them in the 265/75/16 but I'm not sure.

Discount tire is IMO a very good place to get tires with free flat repairs, Comp data base with your tire info. Rotations alot of extras that you dont get other places and they are all over.

My favorite all terrain tires are Bridgestone Dueller AT Revos. Great ride, very tough, and incredible mileage (over 70k). They are kinda expensive to get into, but my set of 265/75/ R16s got me everywhere I wanted to go... including lots of long trips on the highway (like across the country multiple times).

Scott Brady is convinced that a tire with a 75% aspect ratio is the best all around performer. I agree with him after hearing his explanation. They are tall enough in relation to width to cut down on excessive surface contact, but wide enough to provide stability and some flotation for off road performance. That said, I run a 255/75/r16 MT on my truck, but I drive it only for recreation at this point.
