Mothers trim polish

I recently used Mothers Back to Black on my front valance, mirrors and rear bumper and it worked great! Definetly the best product i've used so far and the only one thats really worked!

You know, I have some of this and was rather unhappy with it. Did my mirrors, trim between doors and all black rubber but must say..not at all impressed. I rather wax my mirrors and use some quick detail on everything else.
Just my opinion.

my personal experience with Back to Black is that is doesn't last very long. The stuff reminds me of armor all, but B2B is definitely a better product. If you search, lots of people swear by Aerospace 303 protectant. I can vouch that is VERY GOOD STUFF. Better than B2B for sure. However, it's tough to find and very expensive. Meguirar's Ultimate Protectant (dash and trim restorer) is the BEST. It's thick and LASTS!! Its in a black bottle, about $9. Try it out, I use it for my black trim, engine plastic cover and running boards (anything plastic and black).

I haven't tried the Meguiar's Ultimate Protectant yet. A slightly different ranking system:

#1 for tires: Aerospace Protectant
#1 for exterior rubber trim: Mother's Back to Black*
#1 for exterior plastic trim: Stoner's Trim Shine
#1 for interior vinyl, plastic, rubber: Aerospace Protectant

*Just to note that this stuff does not last long at all.

I love Ultima's line of products.

I've used Meguiars, Mothers, 303 all before. To me they seemed more like dressings. A good rain or two, couple washes, or even a short amount of time and its gone. Trim, cladding, whatever looks like crap again.

I use Ultima's Interior Guard Plus, Tire and Trim Guard and Paint Guard Plus. It is expensive stuff, but its lasts FAR longer and uses a very SMALL amount per application. I have no doubts these three bottles will last me a year, probably two.

I've covered my exterior/interior twice now with Ultima's applicable products and still can't tell that I have used any from the bottles. Using a foam applicator instead of microfiber applicator definitely helps too (less absorption/easier to use retained product).

Have you used Ultima on older vehicles? I'm wondering if it would do much with 12 year old rubber trim

I used it on my 2000 Cavalier which has heavy oxidation everywhere. Cleaned up the trim with an APC and elbow grease, applied the Tire/Trim Guard and still looks great today. I did this back in early Decemeber and it is going strong, nice black color and beads water still.

From what I hear on other boards (Autopia/AutoGeek), it does an excellent job at bringing the black and original look back to the trim and cladding. I've never read a review where anyone wasn't absolutely impressed with it.

Thanks :cheers: I'll give it a try. Stoner's trim shine did wonders for my roof rack and has held up well, so hopefully the Trim Guard will do the same for the rubber stuff

I just bought a 2003 4runner model this week that needed some attention to the body molding and bumpers. I used the Mothers BTB and it looks really good. I have to agree that the Mothers worked for me. I haven't tried the others listed below but with time I will be able to tell how long the Mothers will last

How long did the Mothers last? I've been trying Mequirers Trim Detailer and it only lasts a few days. Very unimpressed actually.
