Motivated today....which hoses are these?

Aloha- Today I cleaned MAF, Throttle Body, replaced PCV, Grommet, front/rear diff oil, transfer oil, motor oil, power steering fluid, plugs, wires, and recharged A/C.

supplies;

cleaned throttle body;

what hose is this?

and this?

2001 4Runner, SR5, 4X4, 3" toytec ultimate, 1" toytec body, stubbs rocksliders, 177k miles

sunday will be Lower Ball Joints (OEM) and Fuel Pump (OEM).

***update*** the truck is idling pretty high now. The average seems to be 1700-2000. Before i started the project While cleaning I disconnected negative terminal and EFI. I've read its just the ECU relearning.

No one knows the name of those 2 hoses?

Subbed to figure out what that duct taped hose is, mine's just like it but with electrical tape.

According to the tsm illustrations..the hose that's attached to the back of the air chamber (the one with the duct tape) is an air hose for the air chamber. What that means idk, that's what's labeled in the manual.
And the other hose that goes to the back of the filter housing (the hose with the clamp on) is a evap hose. Got something got to do with the evap circuit.
I'll confirm the layout tomorrow on my rig and report back.

Is that Power Steering Fluid I see on the table? I hope that's for another car. The 4runner calls for ATF in the power steering system. I believe others have reported issues using PS Fluid. Noisy pump??

I'd get a second opinion for sure (in case I am mistaken) and then I would flush the system well with ATF. You don't want to be ruining steering components.

Yes. I just went and read the power steering fluid cap. Cap says "power steering fluid" then in smaller letters underneath it says "use dextrin type ATF"

Plus after my daughter drove it today she said the steering wheel was a lot harder to turn.

How can the parts department at a TOYOTA dealership not know that? I guess I'll be doing it again tomorrow....:wtf:

The hoses you show are:

Evap system vent hose
This returns fuel fumes into the intake from the gas tank

EDIT: I am wrong about this one with the tape, my mistake
WAS: Intake manifold full vacuum
Truck will idle poorly with this hose disconnected

Regarding ATF for PS
I have a Toyota 4x4 PS Box in the Chevy truck in my signature. I ran PS fluid in it for years until I read somewhere to use ATF. I swapped it for ATF and life has been better.

those are both atmospheric lines, im a less is more guy, I ditched the resonator boxes, the two lines to the power steering pump and tee'd the fuel pressure regulator line into the airbox to charcoal canister hose.

seems every year was a little different, my '97 was super easy, alot of info for different years for this mod on this site.

Old and new 4runners. My oldest daughter managed to steal the 2001 from me and turned it into a beach mobile.

So i had to replace it with a 2016 Trail Edition but I don't like the wheels or lift. I bought it from a guy (had 4k miles on it) who did a 3" coil lift and added the aftermarket wheels (275/70/17). They rub when I'm backing up and it makes me want to punch a baby.

I like those wheels and tires on that lift. Looks good.

Jut throw a pair of spacers on the front, you'll clear no problem.

spacers- I hadn't thought of that. Now for a stupid question; I'm guessing the tires will stick out and kick stuff up on the paint?

righting the wrong....flushed out PS fluid and replaced with ATF. Next time I'll :rtfm:
